  • I think he would appeal to any club trying to get promotion from the Championship.

When the sack race gets into full swing about Christmas time, he will get a PL club looking to keep away from relegation. My prediction is Middlesbrough.

You could easily be right but I was told that he is hoping to stay in the London area .
He deflected criticism of missing the crucial post-season meeting by saying it's his only chance to go away with his family as the grandkids are all up north. I wonder what would keep him down here.
  • Sam and his wife enjoyed living in London.

Sam and his wife enjoyed living in London.

And no one enjoys living in Middlesbrough.
  • He has now stated that he was going to leave West Ham anyway, as he thought he wanted a change. Yes of course you did
  • I think he would appeal to any club trying to get promotion from the Championship.

Indeed, and come December there will be a few chairman hitting the panic button through fear of relegation from the Prem, and Allardyce will be on their radar no doubt.

  • The West Ham way, honestly.

Never seen them play anything but terrible football - refusing to sign any decent defenders for a few years under Redknapp and Roeder then getting relegated does not make you Barcelona.

Listening to the west ham fans on SSN the other day bemoaning that Sam did not play the West Ham Way. Honestly...

They never accepted him. They didn't accept Curbishley either.

They are definitely a bit delusional.

A bit? Very much! I find it strange that they wanted Allardyce out so desperately. There're a couple of Chinese West Ham fans on a Chinese football forum I regularly go to. They were having a mini online celebration yesterday for his departure. It was quite bizarre. I remember I told them once last season 'Be careful what you wish for', a saying that we, Charlton fans, know so well for the obvious reason. But they simply wouldn't listen. If the new managerial appointment goes wrong, it's not totally impossible that they end up in Championship with a half empty Olympic Stadium come August 2016.
  • For the Twitter-less.

Bollocks he was shite. We'd be annoyed if we played how his teams did as well as spending as much as they did

I don't think any club (or any fan) would not swap the Championship for mid table in the Premier League, irrespective as to the football they play.

The days of teams playing the 'West Ham' way with a couple of really good players to win games are gone. Anyone with a significant amount of talent will move to a bigger club and the outcome for any team that is not big, strong, disciplined and regimentally organised is relegation. If a manager went into West Ham and tried to play the free flowing, open, passing game with the talent they can recruit he'd be bottom of the league by Christmas and gone by the end of January.

It's all well and good saying that they want to have a packed stadium in two years time with cheap season tickets but fans won't come and watch a team playing the 'West Ham' way and losing almost every week. If they can sign ten world class players then they can play that way but if not they need to be solid, disciplined and tough to beat. If they have one flair player in their side that is a massive risk, if they have two then are mad!

Allardyce did a great job for them. They are not a big enough club to evolve into something else and stay up. I remember hearing Dowie, at the JFH press conference, saying that he wanted to emulate Curbishley but do it playing more attractive football and I thought then that we could be in real trouble.

Zola tried to do the same when Curbishley left West Ham and they went down.

I would love it if they were relegated and started at the 'Free Stadium' with half the seats empty and the rest bought cheaply with no TV money.
  • Getting in the Europa League via 'fair play' may also prove to be a poisoned chalice for West Ham unless they can add some real depth and quality to their squad.

I'd like to form a new league of two:West Ham and QPR and leave them to play each other week in week out. Spot the connection?

    Actually....yes they will, unfortunately.

So would I, but they will have to be even worse than useless to end up like that with the blatant state-funded leg-up they have been given.

  • I can see it now - West Ham playing the pretty football they demand...but going down!

Sorry Bryan, no I don't see the connection. Maybe I'm being thick but could you explain please?
  • It's one of them things where from the outside looking in its ridiculous but if you actually go to West Ham games you can see why they wanted him gone so badly
  • Form of cheating going on with the blessing of the powers that be? State aid on the one hand and balls to FFP on the other hand.

Ok, yes I get it now. Thanks.
  • I think we should get FIFA to run that mini-division. Obviously the title would go to the highest bidder.
  • Every time I read Fat Sam's blog in the Sub standard he was bemoaning the lack of clarity about his own future, sort of sniping at the porn bros. It was all about Sam rather than focusing on the spammers. Actually I think they will be a big threat to us at their new stadium and hope they chose some Herbert like pardew and go down.

I hope they choose Peter Herbert and go down.
  • Allardyce linked with the Sunderland job this morning (Absolute Radio sports news).
  • will do a good job at Sunderland.
  • Would the fans accept him at Sunderland what with the Newcastle connection or warm to him as he didnt have a great relationship with the Toon and will be keen to get one over them?

Warm to him as he actually used to play for the Mackems.
  • How many clubs as he managed now?
Why doesn't he just take a break and enjoy himself?

These manager merry go rounds are strange.

Quite surprised at the number of clubs he's managed actually
    - Blackpool / Notts County / Bolton Wanderers / Newcastle United / Blackburn Rovers / West Ham United

As you can see already, he's been manager of Bolton AND Blackburn so should he take the Sunderland job I cant see him being too bothered by the Newcastle fans
