Ridiculous. We need a new striker as it is. We'd have to spend more on signing a good replacement. Even passing sides have a player up front that can hold up the ball in some form.
But if they won't sign new contracts, what do you do? Frustrate them by making them stay and get relegated anyway? I'd like to think if they do go we'll bring in some proven replacements on long term contracts, but there's nothing to suggest RD will spend a few million on proven Championship players. If he wants to make money by selling players like this I expect Wiggins and Stephens will also go.
I know RD did something similar at Standard, but I don't think they were ever in danger of being relegated.
Twitter in meltdown - but we don't yet know if its actually happened. If it has then what's the background? Did he want to go? Will Powell be next? Also - is anyone planned to come in - that may be better....got to wait to Friday night at 11PM to really moan (or not)! As Henry says - wait til its on the OS.
For all their weaknesses, TJ and MS didn't sell any of our major players in three years with the club.
This Roland bloke has taken three weeks to not just sell a major player, but our absolute best player. One that actually wanted to stay with Charlton and had a real connection with the fans.
Can't remember the last time I was this angry with CAFC, I really can't.
You know that feeling you get when you're in major trouble at work or you get a text from a girlfriend and you know they're about to dump you? That's what the title did to me. F***.

Yann is not our best player, Solly, Wiggins and Stephens would all command a much higher transfer fee.
It makes good footballing and commercial sense to sell Yann now, IF there is a younger version in the pipeline. That is the key for me.
Tall, strong player who can chip in with a goal and set up other players... Heard Swindon have a young player called Michael Smith that has those attributes...

2004 when we sold Spotty Parker to Chelsea or 2008 when we sold Andy Reid to Sunderland

Solly would. The others why? They'll cost nothing in a few months.

You are mistaking value for worth.
No I am not SHG, the poster said our "best" player. I know Yann is more valuable to us than £400k in the bank, but best player we have....no.
We could promote Michael Smith, oh wait we sold him last week as well...wonder what the likes of JJ, Morro, Wiggins etc think of this. After last night this and now this morale of the squad and management is at an all time low.

Just trying to be optimistic.
He gave us a swerve for a start!
If he goes we are league 1 bound. For goodness sake we are relegating ourselves pointlessly. This is just absolutely ridiculous.

*sad face*
Still, maybe they won't agree terms??

I think the new owner is properly looking at it from a business point of view in terms of cashing in whilst he still can considering his age etc...
Yann is obviously fazed by the fact the boss hasn't got a new deal and we have let his contract run down this much.
Question is how far is the deal...and will Yann accept personal terms.
By end of Jan we have sold 2 strikers.
The logic please?
