Dont care for the way the man goes about things but dont think TFL for one minute give a stuff about their staff.LUL were always breaking agreements agree with the union. Most strikes are not about money but worsening of conditions and job losses. I for one am well pissed off queing up to get a ticket with a massive crowd of people and one window out of five open.
Do you need help with the machines?
I think he might need help queueing for the two machines out of six that appear to be working the majority of times I'm at an underground station..
1000 jobs to go, thats 1000 jobs that people wont be doing in the future or put another 1000 people we will have to find away of paying. How about making less profit and keep people working so they pay tax, unlike a few coffee makers.
But they don't have a job to do
Just like all the people who used to walk in front of cars with flags, people who used to thatch roofs, hunt whales, draw maps etc
Agree with cascfan. He's painted tfl into a corner. Passengers don't want driverless trains, but they don't want overpaid, work shy drivers that strike at the drop of a hat. I think people will live with driverless trains to stop the nonsense from crow and crownies
Bob Crow needs to exist if only to serve as a reminder of the 1970's.
I have two opinions of him, one is obvious, he is a Spanner twat who would not give two fucks about what anyone thinks. Two, that he serves his membership well whilst doing a complete disservice to the public his members are paid to serve.
What gets me is people moan about unions ,some do a good job of looking after their members. Then people whinge that they have rubbish conditions and pay, then in same breath say they wont fight for better conditions and pay! The manager gets richer. Railworkers pay especially driver pay was put up by a Tory Government move after they looked in to the levels of skills and responsibility involved.

I am mainly ignoring this thread as Bob Crow always draws baseless arguments from both sides.
However, this caught my eye. I would point out that Cartographers are very much in demand. They may not use tape measures and pencils anymore but where do you think the military, google, oil, gas companies etc etc get their infomation from?

Before you go wishing station staff away, think of those less able than ourselves, who maybe partially sighted/blind, handicapped, etc. Pity help another terror alert. Be careful what you wish for. If TFL want to save money, they should review the whole process of there business following the Fennell enquiry. This has created a cash cow for scaremongary. The whole approval process for materials installed/held within underground stations, along with the thousands of staff that managing the processes is farcical. It is easy to see front line staff and suggest they are surplus to requirements, but try looking a bit deeper behind the offices at Pier Walk (North greenwich), 55 Broadway, Holborn, Wesferry Circus, Stratford, Acton. The list goes on...

The TfL plan is to have staff at all stations whenever trains are running and to have them patrolling stations instead of hiding behind "position closed" signs in ticket offices. The self service ticket machines are being upgraded so that staff can sign in to them and use them to do things that are currently only possible on a ticket office machine. Plus the planned implementation of the use of "wave and pay" bank cards in place of Oyster will in any case reduce demand for selling top ups and ultimately even season tickets. So under the circumstances you mention, passengers will be better served with the planned staffing arrangements.

No smartarse I buy a priv rate ticket but I wont waste time explaining not sure you would catch on.
it is called progress. Job roles change all the time - if they are serving the public by being approachable around the station and on the platform, what difference is that to them serving the public by sitting issuing a ticket at the same station?
Heard him with Boris today and have to say I have changed my mind. Not about Boris, he continues to be a babbling Pratt. However, Bob Crow came across well. Better than he does in the Daily Mail. Can't say I have fallenin love wth him, but certainly didn't come across as he is painted.

So how long before they decide that too many people are on the station, and slash the figures? I am fully aware that LU plan on reducing staff numbers on stations, even more so on stations at either ends of lines.
About what ?. He didn't even sound like he knew why the unions were taking action about. He was squirming in his seat and couldn't wait for Crow to get off the line

I think to red line is that all stations must be staffed for safety and security reasons. Totally removing staff from any station would be unacceptable to the public and is therefore very unlikely. I don't think that could change in the foreseeable future. Look at what has happened on the Overground where station staffing has massively increased to fulfill that requirement.
If there are too many people, there are too many people and jobs must go.
My ticket money is not there to keep excess people in employment - if there is not a requirement for them, then there will be redundancies. That is how the world works.
As long as he keeps winding the left up he can play act all he wants. Watching the pompous chumps froth at the mouth is tantamount to cringing over Saturday night trash television.

It certainly does, but instead of your ticket money supporting employment your taxes will support unemployment.

Can't believe how many fall for the 'loveable bumbling buffoon' schtick.
