Let him go! If he doesn`t want to play for Charlton, if he thinks he`s too good to play for Charlton f**k him! We have been through a lot worse than this over the years and we will survive and prosper with or without him. Players come and go but CAFC is forever! Goodbye Diego, pack your bag and f-off!

Perfectly put. Do one and get your hair cut.
  • The annoying thing is that had we never put him in the first team we might've had a better chance of tying him down on a long term contract.

    Powell out.
  • Where is the guy flagging someone for mentioning the word muppets. He could clear up in this thread.
  • What annoys me the most about Poyet is that he could sign say a 4 year contract with us, play a couple of seasons, get 100 appearances behind him & still only be 21, he could then make the next step with a different club if we haven't progressed, and we would get a good fee for him. So everyone would win!
  • Bloody hell what shit news to come home to. Absolutely gutted, this boy is going to be a superstar and it's a shame we haven't seen him to his full potential yet. Good luck Diego really hope you have a fantastic career at the top, but if you chase the pound note and sit in the reserves for some crap club like Chelsea for the next few years then it's your own fault and I hope you never fulfill your true potential like that twat Scott Parker

  • The people so emotionally scarred by all this, were you all this upset when we released Ade Azeez. Same age, been brought through the academy. Or is he easier to get over because hes not worth as much money???

The old 'no loyalty in football' gets trotted out when a player leaves, but there's just as much loyalty as there is guarantee. In no way can Poyet be blamed for living for the moment.

The difference between him and Parker is that a bigger. club came sniffing while he was contracted to us, and he made it evidently clear half way through a season that he wanted to piss off.

Long winded way of saying I think Poyet did owe us a contract so we could get a 'return on our investment', I think all youth players do (unless we are really taking the piss).

As I posted earlier, Poyet signed his first contract and he has seen it out, he certainly did not owe us two.

Am I being thick or are you contradicting yourself ?
  • Eight years at our Academy. Wonder how much it ended up costing us, not to mention the Valley Gold contributors, to turn young Diego into a millionaire?
  • truly, is buyens a slot-in replacement, style-wise?

Not entirely as it has been said that he passes the ball forwards.

At least he was polite about it and wished us well. Unlike Parker.
  • Worse than Defoe, it's a big boo from me if he ever comes back
  • Kermorgant, Stephens, Hamer, Dervite and Poyet.

All wanted to leave, or we did not try hard enough, or players not happy with what has been going on behind the scenes?

I think it is a crime that only Morrison signed, and even if we do not struggle this season I will still think that all five should not have been allowed to leave.

Apparently so: a defensive midfielder. Our agent in Belgium, who posts as 'byl', says Buyens is fairly solid but doesn't pull up any trees.

I am preparing a report from the Trust's Belgian journo/Standard fan contact which I got today. Includes some very positive words about Buyens, but also contradicts the description of "defensive" midfielder. Report should be up by tomorrow, and contains quite a few interesting insights

Could have kept kermogant and Hamer the rest were always going to leave.

  • Poyet has signed / is signing for Chelsea according to a few rumours on Twitter. Could he have made a worse decision if that's true? Even De Bruyne can't get a game there and they've just signed Fabregas.

Arsenal, City, Derby and Spurs also linked.

What are you suggesting ? Thier contracts were ending. It would be illegal to prevent them from leaving.
  • As long as it ain't West Ham... Grrrrr!

  • Wasn't the first, won't be the last. It's the way this game is now, more than ever.

Who could expect a 19 year old kid to make the best decision for himself - just look at the range of advice on here. It must be his professional advisers who should have his best career prospects in mind, which IMHO would have been served best by giving us another half or even full season. No-one knows what he's really capable of. Aside from getting the game time with us, we would have shown him that rarest of gifts in football - the gift of patience. We would have seen him through losses of form and if he lost his place through injury or suspension it wouldn't have seen him dumped back in obscurity. No such luck in the big outside world - unless the player is supremely talented or very very lucky, pro football is a giant lottery. Well, exciting times for you, son, but someone's gambling with your future. Hope he doesn't let you down - 20 games haven't (yet) made you a star, only a free agent.

For CAFC this is collateral damage from the previous regime. It's unlikely to happen again.
  • Hahahah Gone to Chelsea Apparently , Will earn big but in a few years will be Just another nobody, No way is he better than Chalobah or Piazon, Even Thorgan Hazard cant get a game, Waste of talent...

That is fair enough, was not expecting them all to stay.

Not suprised he's gone. Could blame Jimenez and the illuminati for not getting him on a longer contract earlier but I can't be bothered. If the nob heads had actually signed a few players then Diego would probably would have a big fat zero in the games played column.

Honestly think it's best for both parties that he's jacked. Time to move on.
  • Not surprised he has gone but left with a sick feeling by how he has gone about it.When I calm down no doubt i will see it differently but I hope he rots in his Premiership reserve team of choice!
  • Don't feel the same bitterness towards him that I do for parker but he still didn't want to play for us so f**k him.
