In our last 6 games we have scored just one goal. And that by a centre-back in the 92nd minute. Forest must feel (as do I) that if they score tonight, the points are in the bag. Come on Church and/or Reza, prove us all wrong

There is some good news, he won't be asked to take a penalty, he wouldn't reach the goal !
  • On the plus side he never gets injured!

Beat me to it. Got to be one of the fittest players we have ever had. If only he had Danny Haynes pace and Mendoncas eye for a goal!
  • Could be his lighting pace and his trickery and his powerfully thunderbolt shots means that defenders can't get anywhere near him!

actually i think Mooney was a better finisher i doubt if church could finish a sentence
  • Church has an alergy to goalposts and nets.
Hates to be anywhere near them!

He tried to place it but at the pace he gave the ball he needed to go for top corner - alternative was to blast it and hope. It wasn't that easy a chance as he didn't have loads of time, but I suppose that the issue isn't about that miss in iteslf but the overall number of misses. He does work hard and whilst people will say - don't give me that working hard nonsense, it does have to be taken into account.

Not sure what it means but looking at the statistics here Simon Church was only one of 2 people in the whole division last year who had more shots on target than off target. Perhaps he is trying to be too precise rather than just belting the ball?

That's the problem he doesn't seem capable of belting the ball so I fixed your statement for you :-)

The best strikers typically are the ones with most shots (of course a lot of them also have to be on target)

I can't remember on to many occasions Church firing with his first touch, or his 2nd either, he seems to hold onto the ball far too long, he never seems to simply blast the ball into the net, all the goals I can remember him scoring were typically very cute finishes with the ball being nicely rolled past the keeper

Whether or not this is to do with his supply or his style I don't know, all I hope is that there has been a change

    Church 23 on, 22 off.

Federico Macheda (Doncaster & Birmingham) 27 on, 25 off.
Joe Mason (Bolton) 17 on, 11 off.
Paul Anderson (Ipswich) 17 on, 15 off.
Emyr Huws (Birmingham) 12 on, 10 off.
Steve Cook (Bournemouth) 11 on, 8 off.
Keith Treacy (Burnley) 10 on, 7 off.
and many others with under 10.

Callum afc - well it was late and I had a long day - but I think the point still stands particularly among those who are meant to be strikers.

Perhaps if Church tried to get his shot off quicker while he still has momentum then his and our problems would be solved. There was much wrong with his goal for Wales last season when he did just that. These sort of things can be improved through coaching.
