Thought tonight's offering was a mixed bag. Too much of the storylines I don't care about (Faith Militant, Samwise). Saw Benjen coming back a mile off too. Guess the next episode is set up well though.

It felt like a save the CGI budget, filler episode. On that note did anyone else think that Jaime's head look badly superimposed as he rode up the steps?
Jaime and Cersei have been going nowhere this season which is a bit disappointing. I'm sure they'll pay off at the end but most of their season has been the same conversation i.e "let's kill anyone who isn't us!" Without ever killing anyone. And then Jaime keeps turning into Uncle Traveling Matt to give him something to do. I think the change of Dorne storyline has really screwed up their arcs for the season.
Re. Filler, I honestly don't think there's any such thing. Especially not for a show like Thrones. There are slower episodes but they're building character or setting up pay offs. Not burning time for the sake of making an episode.
Loved the last speech by Danny, her storyline has been one of the best bits of this series. For any other misteps they may have made, the writers really have sorted her out.

OK 'filler' might be a poor choice of word. I to think though that the show usually lulls mid season before chucking the kitchen sink at the viewer in episodes 8 and 9.

i dunno, dragons do eat up a lot of CGI budget.
Gotta say, hyped about the next couple of weeks, we've had coldhands (benjen) appearing, here's hoping a certain lady appears in the riverlands...

Dany is boring the shit outta me right now. Arya has just signed up to kill the bitchy girl. Sam surprised me, I'm glad he has another Valerian sword. Jaime and Cersei boring. More so than all else I wanted to see the walk of atonement... That was very disappointing.
Both Jon and Tyrion's stories missing really felt like they affected the excitement of the episode.
Generally a fairly quiet episode. Uncle Benjy showing up to rescue Bran was fairly predictable. Liked the scenes with Samwell and family. Much as I hate the Lannisters I really hope they do some unspeakably nasty things to the Sparrows fairly soon as I'm getting bored with their constant plotting with no actual results.
Most disappointing thing this series though is the lack of Bron. Where is he? I never, ever thought I'd miss Jerome Flynn but I do!
Can't stand Daenerys, can't believe people actually enjoyed the close of that. Hoping at some point her 'MY DRAGONS' decide to eat her.
Looking forward to Arya sorting out bowl cut, looking forward to Snow Vs Bolton and the mountain fight which they are setting up very obviously who with.
Think Arya blowing out the fire would have been a better end to that episode.
Those that predicted uncle Benjyin would show up are far better than me, I'd forgotten he existed !
Question - is he supposed to be a good white walker ?
Yes, the children of the forest stopped the complete transformation so he is half human half whitewalker.
Think it is part hauman, part wraith, part whitewalker. But most people I have spoken to have no idea. Not sure it is really that important as he is likely to be gone soon.
Notice when Meera and Bran thought they were about to die and she said I'm sorry, he didn't say "You're sorry? Don't be silly, this was completely and utterly my fault, so I'm sorry."
It was alluded the character cold hands may have been Benjen Starkk in the books but not put into exact words.
It was a slow episode but keep in mind it's based on books about 700 pages long and they can't be nonstop killing each other else it would just be a medieval 24 so stuff needs to be built up a bit. Even though there are so many character arcs you could justify a 20 episode season of 2 hour episodes to give each important character the screen time they need. Loads of dialogue has been dropped which is why so many people who haven't read the books are going 'who are they? Why are they doing that?'

In the books coldhands is not Benjen, this was found out in an edited draft of the book where the editor asks the question, GRRM says no.
Daenerys getting very boring - ending felt very tacked on and yet another "inspirational" event from her
I think grrm has even said himself he regrets introducing Dany at the beginning because her story won't become important to the rest of the world until the last part of the story.

It means we've got to see the Dothraki though who are brilliant !
Quoting not working properly but in reply to @Exiled_Addick 's post
'I believe there is another theory that he is actually legitimate, and therefore the rightful heir to the throne. The theory goes something like the miscarriage that Cersai supposedly had was actually him and she gave him away because he was Robert's and not Jamie's. It's supposed to mirror some piece of greek mythology involving the god of blacksmiths being given away at birth.'
this doesn't work. Maggy said she would only have 3 children while the king would have 20
sorry if this has already been covered, i haven't been following the thread properly. my friend mentioned it, and I'd completely forgotten about it, but didn't the tv show kill off Balon Greyjoy already in one of the earlier series? When they did the whole 3 kings will die thing, Robb, Joffrey and I could swear they showed or made reference to Balon getting thrown off a cliff on the Iron Islands already
like I say, sorry if it's been covered on here, but it could be one of those things equivalent to a tv typo I guess

One thing I'm looking forward to is seeing how westeros reacts to the dothraki hordes. I doubt they'd go back across the narrow sea after Dany has finished conquering. What then? They'll rape and pillage their way around the seven kingdoms.

You need to slow down a bit, they have to build a thousand ships first, it only needs an attack of Dutch Elm desease and they will have to be shuttled across on the backs of the dragons.

Also what if Summer comes back as a White Wolf like the Horses we saw in the past...

Balon had definitely only been killed the once, unlike other characters.
