It's a brave new world. I like it. A lot. Its got a slight touch of a rugby league look about it but hey, no one moans about Oasis ripping off the Beatles.
Was the Fans Forum, Trust or any other fans group consulted and asked for their opinion on it?
All relevant in my opinion. The proof will be in the pudding and time will tell of how many of these new strips they sell.
I'm too old for replica tops, so I would never would purchase one, but for the last 50 years the home shirt has been mainly red. Another nail hammered in from the club who are forgetting about tradition and the Fans.

Oh please.

Were they saying that in 1964 too? Absolutely ridiculous....its a shirt in a new design.....nothing more nothing less.
Let's not get carried away about tradition etc. Don't get me wrong I don't like it, but it'll be changed again the following season - more than likely back to mostly red so everyone can rest easy at night again.
One positive is it's still better than that carbrini crap we had.
I've already commented on another thread, but in case someone from the club is monitoring this one for feedback:
I don't like it.
I won't be buying it.
Please ditch Nike as a kit supplier as soon as possible and go back to someone who will treat us as a proper customer and supply us with bespoke kits that have RED shirts and WHITE shorts.

Wrong, it's not just a new design is it, it's a significant move away from our combination of red and white in the shirts and socks to that of other clubs (Boro and Arsenal) not to mention the red shorts of Liverpool. In the 1963/4 season it was different, new badge and nickname in an attempt at revamping the image. We don't need it for the sake of it and I repeat it's not our colours. Call me what you like this persons not for turning.
It's a shirt, shorts and socks - there are bigger issues to worry about
I just made up a new rule. Every time you ever comment on a thread, where you are not being positive, I want you to ask yourself; "is this more important than mass genocide?" And if not, you're not allowed to comment on the thread.

I spoke to Steve Bradshaw about the possibility of doing a fan poll shortlist as long ago as season before the last one, and he was keen, but as the time approached he told me it wasn't going to be an option this time. So we ran our own poll anyway, although we successfully guessed this one would be a choice, our most popular option was the solid traditional one. Personally think the shortlist poll is a good idea but not everyone agrees it seems. I suspect the correctness of the choice however its arrived at is justified by the number of shirts sold in the end, although I guess there will be many who buy regardless.
My reaction is that the kit's ok, and it's nice to do something different. On the other hand, there's a tradition with kits that I quite like. I wish we still had white shorts, and a bit more red on the shoulders. I'd be happier. Sure, there's more important things to worry about in life, but this is a forum about a football club, and a thread about their kit. Seems valid to me to pass opinion in here.

Also there is not a limit on what we care about. I am more concerned about signing players, but that is not as important as my son's education, which is itself not as important as his health.
Just because something else is more important doesn't means that everything else is not!
Past seasons have had lifers moaning about how our new kit has simply been tweaked from previous designs and does not warrant a total replacement. Now we are moaning that it is now "too red or too white". Charlton play in red and white and have done - in varying degrees - since I started watching in 1964. There will never be total agreement on an ideal new kit and I think this one will grow on the fans. If we have a successful season wearing it I will be happy.

Apart from being a really shit analogy, loads of people on here moan about Oasis ripping off the Beatles... LOL

So Bradshaw stated it was not an option. Very interesting.
Not the worst not the best, be interesting to see how it looks to see them come out at The Valley for the first time next season... the white may be the eye catching bit which would feel strange. Although perhaps more interesting will be who we have wearing them..
Posted this on the other thread but , I've been told that yh UoG chose to have the textual logo rather than the commercial logo as it would be clearer to see and read

The same font when my sunday league side in the early 90's had the "Jolly Marshman" public house on the playing shirt.
Why are so many in such a huff about how the sponsor looks? Do we support Charlton or the University of Greenwich football team?
And it isn't "mainly white". Its mainly red, with more white than usual. Simple really!
Forgive the melodrama, but this is how I see it.
Charlton 3- Everton -2 in 1987. It's a game that sticks in my head. Has done for nearly 30 years. I'll always remember that sunny day at Selhurst. For some reason, on a sunny day where I see a full Charlton kit, I think of that day. Especially when we play a team in blue.
I like the continuity of the kit, how 30 years on, with nobody from the club left, probably a fraction of the fans still going, that when I see the red shirts and white shorts, I remember 1987 and how Charlton are a constant in my life.
This kit messes that continuity up, and for that reason, I'm quite disappointed, and look forward to the day we revert to our proper colours.
I like the shirt, in design it reminds me of this old one that West Ham had:
Would prefer white shorts.
Nug's logo looks better, but I suspect Damo may well be right about the TV coverage. That old fashioned serif font that they have (some form of Goudy?) isn't easy to read.
I'm not a FKW - most people just leave off the FK :-( - so buying it isn't an issue for me. As a kit for my team, I actually like it. Apart from the white sleeves, nothing that we haven't tried in our past (more white on top, red shorts (which, I think helps offset the white in the shirt) and hooped socks more often than I realised).
Just really glad we didn't go right back to 1921 for the blue shorts!!

Ta.
To be fair I know we are moaning about the white but it is still mostly red just a little different this year
I don't know what's worse; the giant boring type of the university or the red and white Aquafresh stripes.

Also, having three sponsors sucks. Really hard.
