Some fans on FB are actually using this as a stick to beat RD with. It's hilarious. Its like even the club know how to wind these eggberts up into a frenzy.

What would be really funny would be if it turned out it wasn't a joke.

Thing is, when they announced it yesterday, everyone said straight away (on FB especially) that it was an April Fool lined up.

That must have pissed them off knowing that everyone knows you will try and wind them up before it has already been done. Bit of a damp squib now.

Charlton will make history next season when they share a kit with a European side for the first time

Charlton will make history next season when they share a kit with a European side for the first time.

The Addicks today unveil their new home and away strips for the 2015/16 campaign in conjunction with AD Alcorcón.

Los Alfareros, which translates as ‘The Potters’ in English, are a Madrid-based side who currently compete in the Segunda División and are also owned by Roland Duchâtelet.

Charlton’s new home shirt is predominantly red with a yellow stripe down each side and will also serve as the away top for the Spanish side.

Meanwhile, Alcorcón’s traditional yellow home strip will bear two red panels and become the Addicks’ away kit.

Both kits will be available in the club’s respective stadium superstores and be emblazoned with a specially-commissioned red and yellow ‘solidarity crest’.

Club badges and sponsor logos will be sold separately for an additional cost and can be pressed by shop staff or at home by fans with a preference for their own iron.

Charlton supporters are also encouraged to purchase and display the Alcorcón badge on their new shirts, or shorts, to showcase the friendly relationship between the two clubs.

“We wanted to do something special next season," said Mark Hassan-Ali, Charlton’s Head of Commercial.

"The new solidarity crest of a red and yellow handshake is an important symbol of respect between the clubs.

“We hope, in future, that it might be possible to include hands from the President’s other teams as well.

“This is an unorthodox step for a British club, but football is now a global game and this is a great opportunity to spread the names of Charlton Athletic and Alcorcón around the world.

“While we may not be playing in Europe next season, at least our kits will be!”

Charlton’s home kit will also feature red shorts and red socks, while the away kit will have yellow variations.

Further details of when fans can purchase next year’s kits will be published on www.cafc.co.uk in the coming weeks.

For those of you saying "crap april fools joke" - get a grip. As usual if we hadn't done anything it would be "the club is crap, doesn't respect its fans and doesn't get involved in a trivial nationwide annual bit of fun"

damned if they do, damned if they dont

Being serious (and of course, replacing the yellow trim with white) I think that would be a pretty nice kit...............

And replacing the red shorts with white...

PS - away shirt white with red sash. It's still a sash. A Palace sash. Please God no.

Awful attempt at an April fools gag!

Get over yourself, it's relatively funny.

I think social media has ruined April fools day. I'm sure far more would have fallen for it if the joke wasn't instantly followed by 200 people calling it..........

Think they got the balance about right; not completely unbelievable but quite far-fetched. The tip-off yesterday probably scuppered the impact it might otherwise have had. Who knows? They might just be testing the water for a less controversial version in the future!

I'd put up with it for a year, bit of a laugh. Better than the current one. Strangely I'd have a bit of respect for the April fool effort if they did bring in those kits as a double bluff.

I like how they've done this.
They've made an effort. Collaborated with a partner club. Kept it a bit out there, but just about believable. The idea, when you think about it, makes economic and practical sense and would forge some shared identity. They've also repoted it with a perfect deadpan delivery - no anagrams or silly names to give it away. Also, announcing yesterday suggests it isn't a joke as starting the joke early breaks the rules of April Fool's Day doesn't it?
When you think about it, it might not be a joke.

Which makes it a better joke.
    Well done.

Lol at the Brighton one: trialling goal music, a different song every time they score to see which is best. Dig at Palace?

I like the Laser II kit being suggested as the next home kit.

Shame Nike don't do fat sizes as I'd have bought that for use on my cycle commute.

Agreed nice simple shirt, nearly all red and it has a collar, but we need white shorts - we're not Liverpool.
