As regards Hart i just think he will make a mistake that will cost us its just something I see in him all the time.Would rather see Forster in goal

Jon Flanagan worth a place? Can play right back and left back.

Think what you like about Wellbeck, he's one of the best technical players we have. If we're going to compete at WC level, he has to go. Anyone suggesting Carroll or Lambert should go ahead of him... I just can't understand.

    Cant agree with that personally.

Wellbeck does have the skill to do something, his goal against Sweden showed that, but against sterner opposition i think he struggles. As Tom says, his touch is woeful at times, and when he is bad…he is really bad. We've already got a similar player in Sturridge. Lambert gives us a different, more physical option. What i'd call a proper English centre forward.

joe hart made some saves that were as good as goals for man city this season. By far the best keeper we have, who would you have in his stead!?!?

Id still like Lampard to be there as well. Another 46 appearances for Chelsea this season. Good to have amongst the younger players playing in there first major tournament, is reliable and can keep the ball, which could be crucial in the last 10 mins in the Brazilian humidity.

1-1 against Italy with 10 to go I would rather see an experienced hand like Lampard come on rather than Cleverly or Carrick. Not bad for set pieces either.

All (most) of the pundits seem to agree that the following should be on the plane:

    HART, FORSTER
    BAINES, CAHILL, JAGIELKA, JOHNSON, JONES
    BARKLEY, CHAMBERLAIN, GERRARD, STERLING
    ROONEY, STURRIDGE, WELBECK

Leaving 8 more spots (+1 GK) to be filled. I'd personally add
    Butland in goal
    Shaw in defence
Henderson, Lallana, Lampard, Milner in midfield
    Lambert up front

Can't decide on the extra defender I'd take. Got to pick from Flanagan, Stones, Smalling, Dawson, Caulker...

Are you honestly saying Hart is not one of the three best goalkeepers England currently have? Really?!

Rumoured stand-by list (according to the Guardian):

    Andy Carroll (West Ham)
    John Stones (Everton)
    John Ruddy (Norwich)
    Jermain Defoe (Toronto)
    Tom Cleverley (Man Utd)
    Jon Flanagan (Liverpool)

I hear what you're saying, and if it was a premier league game I'd be likely to agree with you. But it's a different level, a different style, physicality doesn't play as much of a role at WC's as technical does.

The 'English' approach has been failing for a long time now.

I agree with your final sentence, but you are playing a very technical Uruguay team and they have stifled the attacked for 80 mins. You need a goal to go through. fans are screaming for the ball to get in the box. Id rather have Lambert to call upon. He wouldn't get in my starting 11 and neither would Welbeck, but off the bench i think Lambert is a plan B, and in a knockout tournament it can be crucial.

    Would definitely take Lampard.

It seems as though every tournament there is this whole "lets not worry about how far we get, just blood the kids in" attitude. Sorry, but this is the WORLD CUP. Blooding young players in should be left to U21/friendly matches, not the grandest stage of them all.

If we do take a load of youngsters and they fail then people still won't be happy.

Just take the best team, as if you were preparing for a stretch of league games. All this "blooding in" is nonsense when you consider the fact that these men/kids play in the biggest league in the world week in and week out.

Mate of mine had a bet at the beginning of the season that Sturridge, Henderson, Sterling and Barkley would be going to the world cup.

If they all go he is £4000 better off

actually this is the first time in as long as i can remember that people have been saying this. All the other times its "this is our year, the golden generation will come good" etc. I think its refreshing not putting too much pressure on ourselves and see how we do.

    1-1 against Italy?!?

Forget Lampard. I think seeing a Doctor might be more appropriate in your case.
