Like an episode out of eastenders all this just can't work it out lol,
Jose Riga has decided to walk away from his job with Championship Charlton Athletic, his advisor has confirmed to Sky Sports.
After failing to agree on the club's future plans with owner Roland Duchatelet, Riga - whose contract was only until the end of the season - is leaving The Valley.
The 56-year-old took over from Chris Powell in March with the club at the foot of the table but he managed to galvanise the Addicks squad and lead them to safety with a record of eight wins, three draws and six losses.
Now Riga has decided to walk away, but the one-time AC Milan academy chief is hoping to get another job in England.
Riga: Kept Addicks in Championship "Jose has loved his time in England and has showed just how good a coach he is. Keeping Charlton up was not easy at all," his advisor Chris Nathaniel of NVA told Sky Sports.
"It was a tough thing for Jose to leave Charlton, but he is already looking to the future and is hopeful of getting a job here, and we have already had some contact from clubs about his availability."
Sky Sports understands that Riga is already on the radar of Championship club Blackpool, after they learned he was leaving Charlton and keen to remain in England.
Reports in Belgium suggest former Millwall striker Bob Peeters - currently in charge at Waasland-Beveren - is set to take charge at Charlton.
When contacted by Sky Sports, Charlton refused to comment.
Usual press article where the headline doesn't match the content
Riga's agent doesn't say he decided to "walk away".
What he does say is "It was a tough thing for Jose to leave Charlton". He doesn't say why he left.
But he's Jose's agent so he is touting his client around to other potential employers as he should.
Does seem to kill any chance of JR having another role with Charlton anytime soon.
It is strange that rd don't want Riga , this Bob fellow might be exactly what we're looking for , I'll judge him by what we bring in during the window and how he manages us in the first few games , I'm not gonna write him off like a few have already .
So Powell leaves because he can't agree on future plans and now Riga says the same thing hmmmm......
Yep, certainly one of the most alarming aspects to this. Bob Peeters could be the next Bill Shankly, but if he's not willing to tow the Duchatelet line he'll find himself out of a job pretty quickly.

We already had someone (Riga) who was exactly what the supporters and the players wanted. Sadly Roland sees it in a different way to the vast majority.
Actually, I've just read that "Riga also said that Duchâtelet is yet to offer him a job elsewhere but that they will sit down and have more extensive talks.". Which makes it sound like RD has a job for him elsewhere and thats why we have a new manager.

I do agree I liked Riga maybe he wants Riga for elsewhere sporting director at Charlton or standerd seeing as de sart is out of contract, Maybe rd is looking for the future long term so wants a young manager I.e 40 year old Bob
Now slightly concerned that it's being reported Riga couldn't agree on future plans with Duchatelet. I'm Jumping to conclusions but surely that can only be with regards to recruitment and retention ?
I doubt that Peeters is a yes man but it's more than likely now that we are going to have a head coach with little or no input in player acquisition. As asked before. Who is doing that ?
As someone here pointed out, maybe RD will send him back to Liege as they finished 2nd.
I agree that this all seems a bit of a mess and doesn't reflect well on RD ATM. But we will just have to wait and see, as long as we don't end up like Pompey/Hereford etc on the brink of liquidation and in free fall then I'm willing to give the guy a chance

Where does it say that they couldn't agree on future plans , as far as I can see rd just didn't offer him a new contract.
So many different assumptions and conflicting reports etc its ridiculous - i was actually told Riga would be with the academy, now he is not, then going to Milan before joining Fulham but might end up at Blackpool and Peeters denies any talks with Charlton but is flying to London to discuss terms but there is a back up name should all else fail.......................Only at FACKING CHARLTON

@BeNeFoot: Riga ..and with better football. It's true I have received a lot of compliments from other coaches, the media and the club. #cafc
