Not sure whether this a good signing for them or not. I liked him a couple of years ago when we were in L1 although sometimes the step up can be difficult.

I was surprised that it was just a 2 year contract for a 25 year old

It is a punt . I thought for example Green and Hollands were excellent in L1 , but they never looked as good in the CCC and even Johnny Jackson took time to find his feet again.

Gleeson should be reaching his prime and is young enough to improve . We will see once the season starts.

Haven't Watford also signed Gomes from Spurs and Dyer from Leicester?

Here is the link to the BBC Transfer site.

    Like the signing of Dyer.

From what I can remember Gomes looked decent for about 6 games but make an mistake and look totally shot of confidence for another 6.

Strange with Gomes because he was excellent at PSV.

I rated Gomes and for his first couple of seasons at Tottenham not just the first 6 games he was superb and helped them win the Carling Cup and qualify for the Champions League. I wouldn't have complained if Charlton had signed him.

His problem is that he made a couple of high profile mistakes which meant he lost confidence and his place . Spurs firstly signed Friedal and then Lloris who in my view in my view is one of the best keepers in the world . He must be exceptional because he is keeping our former loanee Johann Thuram-Ullien out of the French World Cup Squad.

Also Spurs's greatest goalie was signed from Watford , so they owe you one.

Rotherham really going for it, making some good signings. Next season's Bournemouth.

A club really going for gold, good luck to them. Would love to see that sort of intent at our club, no better feeling than promotion looking forward to the next season with that sort of intent! Think they'll try hold onto Pringle for the coming season too, will only increase in value.

Their previous record transfer fee was only £160,000 for Lee Frecklington, which perhaps puts this in perspective. Only a 2 year contract as well

Zigic and Chris Burke are both leaving Birmingham. What's interesting is the level of wages they can currently offer, quite come down from the £60,000 a week Zigic was on before!
The Birmingham Mail revealed weeks ago that budget restrictions due to the club’s financial problems means that no contracts dished out can be more than £5,000-a-week.

Sky did have this on this story earlier
Birmingham have put fresh terms to Nikola Zigic and Chris Burke, but Lee Clark is already planning without the pair. Both are due to become free agents once they reach the end of their current deals at St Andrew’s.

Interesting so far, that very few incoming deals by Champs clubs involve a transfer fee.

Those that saw him were very positive and looked to have pedigree for a kid, shame not to have got him, I wonder if we tried?
