Well money bags ccc didn't make finals day, so does your over inflated wage bill, and ego's warrant progressing one game further than little Kent ? As Fanny said Karma.
Before I say anything about the game I'll just say that it was a good evening out at the cricket with my Dad which I am so grateful for as 6 months ago I wasn't sure we'd get to do that again.
Elliot was out. 100%
Cheating scumbag. I watched it all the way into Burns hands and it was out. He had fingers under the ball.
What was shocking was the decision by the on field umpire to give the soft signal not out when he was so far away. How in any way could he claim to have seen it from there? Absolute joke.
As for the video replays we've been over this hundreds of times before because of the foreshortening of the lense and the ultra slow mo is actually just slowly skipping between frames. It was always make those look like they have bounced when they haven't.
That was 100% no 10000% out. The Warwickshire fans around us were all saying the same.
Elliot should have walked the second it was in his hands. He knew it was out we all knew it was out it was only when he refused to walk that the umpires decided to consult on it. I'm glad to say Dernbach and Roy gave him a piece of their mind and pointed him to the pavilion. Shame he had zero sportsmanship. You expect that from an Aussie but not a Kiwi.
Disgraceful.
Ruined the atmosphere in the ground too. Crowd went flat both sets of players went flat. Meaker bowled even quicker after that but the cheat got lucky.
I didn't hang around at the end but I really hope the likes of Burns (who took the catch) Batty, Jade and Roy didn't shake Elliot or the umpires hands after the game.
Would love to hear what Batty had to say in his post match interview.
The crowd gave Burns a good round of applause for taking the catch when he returned to his fielding position.
I see the BBC deleted the headline they ran about the umpires controversial decision giving the bears the victory and replaced it with something about Elliot's innings...
BBC commentators at the time said it was out and with the replays. As did Flintoff. The number of experienced cricketers on Twitter sayinhbit was shambles is ridiculous.
Definitely bump ball weren't a catch, saw it on the telly, don't be a sore loser .
I'm not in any way. Do you understand the science of the foreshortening of the lense. I've read quite a lot about it. Those slow mo replays aren't actually slow mo. They are several frozen frames which the picture skips between. That will always make it look like has bounced. The ICC and federation of umpires have plenty of documentation and guidance on this. Sadly only international umpires are given the training in how it all works in video replays.
I can say with almost certainty that with use of the guidance an international 3rd umpire would have given that out.
In real time it looked out but it does look like there was some ground involved in the replays, the catcher always knows if he took it cleanly and Rory seemed convinced so I'll go with him.
The catch aside Jade and Clarke went for 100+ in less than 8 overs - that's why we lost.
Any team that lets their worst bowler bowl the most vital over deserves to lose.... All over in two balls.
Had no choice. We had to bowl our strike bowlers earlier to try and get the breakthrough. If we hadn't it wouldn't have reached the last over. The options were Batty - no chance bowling a spinner in the last over, Henriques- calling this guy medium pace is generous. He bowls slower than me. Or Clarke - the only real choice.

Agree. But thay doesn't tell the whole story. They both bowed some very good deliveries/overs. Clarke's first was very good. He should have had another wicket when burns (ironically) dropped as easy a chance as you will get in the deep. Jades last over did enough to take it to the last over of the match. Yes there were some bad balls but mostly it was a very good pitch and batsmen were going well. Only Sam and Meaker in short spells ever looked really threatening and both of them took a bit of punishment too.
Surrey have persevered all season with Ollie Pope. I haven't seen him. Is he good enough? He doesn't seem to have made the scores or hit the right run-rate to me.
Missed Tom Curran last night, obviously. Dernbach and Clarke's economy rate shocking.
So, another season with no silverware. Not really good enough for a county with our resources.
Canters - glad you had a good day with your Dad. How anybody can tell whether that was caught or touched the ground I don't know. With or without technology that was impossible to tell. iIt used to be that the batsman was always given the benefit of the doubt. This rule seems to have lapsed. personally I think it should be brought back in. At least we would get consistency, because I agree on many occasions it would have been given out. You missed TC but everyone suffers injuries. Kent missed Milne for the bulk of the competition. Ps still can't believe you got this far anyway. it was more Kent losing that final game than Surrey winning it!

Now what's that word I'm searching for ?

We missed TC badly but you can't help injuries.
