Not being rude Yann but who on Gods earth apart from Belgians and Roland's YouTube geeks watches Belgian football enough to be able to notice these players
Well when we signed thuram I searched for some of their highlights and remembered a few of their players Not hard really , if you don't think he's a good player check he's FIFA rating lol.
So you haven't actually seen him play then?
you couldn't make it up!
What are you on about , you do realise the FIFA thing was a joke don't you or are you a bit simple ?
You said you'd seen him play 'a couple of times.' As for Messi, I'm sure you've seen more than 30 seconds of him on YouTube. So actually, you don't know any more about him than anyone else. Let's judge him once he's in a Charlton shirt.
Ffs did I say he was amazing ect all I said was he looks a good player and he's a better standard than what we've been given before but that's fairly obvious as he's a regular starter.
'I've seen him play a couple of times.'
I don't think he said he'd seen him live, did he? Watching a game on a screen still counts as seeing someone play, although one should treat highlights with a certain amount of circumspection.
Any chance you could link these highlights you watched Yann? So far all Ive seen is 3 pixels taking a penalty. Would be good to see this encouraging footage
Unless any of us are gullable enough to think we will be nicking Liege’s best players off them – I think it is safe to assume that he plays in a position where they want to strengthen. Rather than have him languish in the reserves, the network system allows him to move and contribute to another club – us in this case.
The key to whether this is a recipe for success is how much stronger Liege are than the Championship. It is difficult to gauge as the Belgian league has quite a few clubs smaller than Charlton in it. As he has played a significant number of games for the Liege first team, I would assume he is at least half decent. But he clearly would be considered below their standard (excuse the pun) if he is allowed to join us.
I think it is perfectly legitimate to look at the transfer track record to date. When there are more positive examples, the assessment of signings will be more positive. I can’t see what is negative about wanting the owner to earn our enthusiasm and not giving it lightly.
the minimum requirement for me when a player joins Charlton is someone who can kick a ball and attack one goal in one half and then the other goal in the 2nd half so as long as he can do that then welcome Yoni.
"Yoni oh Yoni Buyens stays in the middle for me"
"Oh Yoni, Yoni Yoni, Yoni, Yoni Yoni Buyens"
"Oh Yoni well, You came from Liege without taking, But we sent you away. Oh, Yoni well, Kissed me and stopped me from shaking, And I need you today. Oh, Yoni"!
Standard Liege cast offs aka ones no longer in their plans would not walk the Championship, even with experience.. now chuck in they all have no Championship experience and here we have our problem..
Players increase in value if they perform in England, but I'm sad to see our team become what is is becoming, as first thought

I'd like to think that after last season, Roland will at least now be aware that we need a higher level of Liege cast off to be able to cut it in the championship. Most of the ones sent last season were clearly not up to the task and RD and his advisors had clearly under-estimated how strong our league is.
So bearing that in mind, i'd be quite hopeful that any players we do now get will be better than ones sent before.

This! First question is whether one thinks Duchatelet is actually trying to harm CAFC?! Next question is where are the ten players we need going to come from? I don't think we will buy multi-million pound players so the answer is loans from Premier League, our Academy and network players, I.e. The same as Watford have been doing. I expect Liege are having a clear out because they went well in the league but the results were poor in the play-offs. If it happens then this is a step up from the January signings simply because they were in the 3-600k price range and completely surplus to Liege requirements. I have no comment to make on the relative standard of the top end of the Jupiter league but read the likes of @byl with interest and await news of transfers and European games. Perhaps transfermarkt is not 100% accurate but it appears to be a reasonable indicator if one can tolerate some outliers. Right now it tells me that if our current players develop AND we can add a few decent players then we are mid-table next season. This guy looks like one even if it does mean that Poyet ain't signing Let's see what the squad looks like in July rather than rush to judge each and every rumour and move.

Hi, I am new here, but I'm from Belgium so I can give you more information about Yoni Buyens. A few years ago, he was one of the most promising young midfielders in the League, playing for KV Mechelen. My team (Bruges) was interested in him but Mechelen asked 5 million euros. That was a little bit too much. We wanted Buyens because he's a very physical player, pretty strong, with a great mentality, a real winner, goal scoring ability. We needed someone like that in midfield. Eventually, he went to Standard Liege, where he has been a first team regular ever since. Last season he sometimes lost his place because of tactical choices the new coach made. William Vainqueur had a great season and youngster Julien De Sart really stepped up. I think he can really be an asset, I don't think you will be disappointed if he signs and becomes a Charlton player. He's definitely much better and much more experienced than any of the other players RD sent to Charlton last season. Thuram, Koç, Ajdarevic...even in Belgium hardly anybody ever heard of them. Only Reza had some kind of reputation, but he only played in the Dutch second division and Belgian low flyer STVV (another of RD's teams) before he went to Standard Liege.
Thanks Chimme much appreciated that info but the moaning mrytles on here will still not be happy. We boast a FA cup win in 1947 so we are much to big a club to have someone like Yoni Buyens playing for us ;-)
Little used last season, he was part of the long list of Median sedges on departure Ibrahima Cisse, transferred to Malines, will not only leave the median Standard this summer. Far from it!
Alpaslan Ozturk, who finished the season on loan at Kasimpasa is supposed to return because the Turkish club has not exercised the option, but not in the plans of Guy Luzon. He can go to Charlton, but his desire is to still play a year in Belgium before returning to Turkey. There are more chances to see Yoni Buyens join Charlton. After three seasons spent in Belgium, William Winner should leave Standard. There is interest in Italy and England in particular ...

P.s. wheres Chris O'Grady... #deflectingattention
Charlton are better than Standard Liege.
It's easy to sort this one out. When we get some players let's get it on.
So bearing that in mind, i'd be quite hopeful that any players we do now get will be better than ones sent before.

My Yoni desire...
Damn you Duchatelet for signing players with short names. Is he insinuating we are thick and can't pronounce long names?
