I think people should go easy on Yann, his only 'crime' is being pro Charlton. Would anybody like to swap him for Mr Prior with his sarcastic and antagonistic comments?
Very weird all these Belgians signing up to tell us their opinions of players who played for their clubs years ago with the only link being a couple of rumours on Twitter....
Genuine question (as I can't remember)... before Roland came along did this happen when we signed other foreign players...? Just seems a little unusual to me.
All those players we've signed from abroad over the last few years
We haven't signed Yoni Buyens though have we? I should have said "linked with" rather than signed in my original post. I mean like last summer when we had that big French unit on trial up front (forget the name). Did we have fans from his previous clubs coming on and saying how good he was and how well he'd fit in at the club?
It's like whatever SL player we're linked with someone who supports a team they used to play for (but never Standard Liege as that would be too obvious) suddenly pops up to do a sales job on here.
I just wonder if all this criticism of Amaury Gerard, our network media supremo, doing nothing has been wide of the mark... if you get what I mean...
I understand where you are coming from, but sadly, I think it says more about us and our Island mentality than anything else. People from other European countries like the UK and are interested in what happens here. Belgium as a country and as a football nation is emerging from a dark time. I think these visitors are just a bit proud that their country is having some impact on a football nation they admire. Let's give them a break, eh?
If you take @byl, he has courteously and and at some length responded to every comment thrown back at him. "Paid" internet influencers don't do that, because they are not paid to do so.

Fair enough and I don't really 100% believe that our guests aren't who they say they are.... but at the same time I don't fully believe that the network isn't beyond this sort of thing either.
Byl has been on here enough that I tend to agree with you and yesterday I made a Roland joke about him but it was genuinely a joke... with this latest player/forum member though it all just seemed way too convenient and immediate.
Only the paranoid survive and all that (which is a terrible and destructive expression to live by, but for some reason when it comes to Charlton it's a position that's all too easy to take!)...
@LFE You actually believe that it's possible the "network" would put stooges spouting positive spin on a fans forum ?
It's a common part of other industries PR these days so why not football when a club is trying to manage bad feeling among the support and sell season tickets?

As an example, in my industry (video games), the practise of going onto comments threads and message boards to defend games from bad reviews under the cover of being a fan of the product, or paying people to go on the App Store to drown out bad reviews with good ones, is common place...
Dodgy and dishonest as **** but common place unfortunately.

Good reply. I just don't buy into it.
I hope you're right, and like I say I don't completely believe it myself either... But I'm sceptical!
I love the lunacy of the theories though large it makes it worth coming on here lately just to see who has gone cukoo the most
Don't let byl see your post. Byl actually is RD. When he's not micro managing Charlton and his other five clubs and his electronics empire and large family he often likes to come on here and wind up Charlton Lifers.
I think many of you would be very surprised by the amount of skulduggery that can go on with regard the social media / internet in terms of getting out positive PR. You don't think some planted stuff goes on twitter, trustatrader type sites, tripadvisor, restaurant review sites etc ?
Won't go into details, but we've 100% had episodes on here in the past that have crossed what you would class as an acceptable line from within the club.
Certainly don't put our recent Belgium visitors in that category, I and I think 99% of others really appreciate their input, so please don't jeopardise that.

well...CL posters have been accused of being "mouthpieces" for Board directors before....
The main reason to assume this is not true is that RD has the reputation of: 1 .not giving a toss what the fans think of his decisions, and 2. not wasting money therefore on trying to influence their thoughts.

They'd do that for the 30 or so eternal sceptics on here? Do you think 'they' believe that this Forum is a miror image of the way the other supporters think?

I agree but I have to admit, Yann's posts just make me think of this guy....

Yann has given his fair share of antagonistic comments but I wouldn't want him to go anywhere....I love the little guy like a brother!
It is just modern marketing. The marketing person doing it even may have something useful to contribute. It is very naive not to consider that someone who works for Roland might go onto the largest Charlton forum to help drop in some positive messages. It is not helpful to spin and exagerate the suggestion as there is an army of posters doing it or it is mass conspiracy. Or it is such a wild suggestion.
I know some Charlton supporters want to be like Mulder and believe, particularly if you have shelled out on a season ticket; but spinning, belittling and exagerating those that don't yet believe to further the arguement is not good.
The evidence will be in the next 8 weeks whether Charlton will have a competitive team on August 9th 14. The contracts renewed and the players brought in, will be the most important thing for Bob Peeters and whether he has a chance to make a success of things. I very much hope he does.
This guy Yoni Buyens looks like a cover signing for Poyet IMO in case he does not sign (it would be brilliant if Poyet does).
I picked this up and google translated as follows :
The chance for Yoni Buyens viewed sticks to standard, is very large. The midfielder is to England. In England can Buyens to work with, yes, Charlton Athletic. The club Roland Duchâtelet would like to take over the midfielder. You know La Dernière Heure . The probability is high that Buyens Standard leaves the English second division. He has played since 2011 in the Rouches.

I would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you pesky kids
It's all too mulder and scully for me
