On the subject of cooks captaincy we've seen that when he loses confidence in someone particularly a bowler. He then stops bowling them and they soon stop featuring! We saw this with Finn Kerrigan and others..

TBH, after the way Kerrigan bowled, i woudlnt have bowled him again, and also, he has hardly featured for Lancashire since then either.

Well done Gary ballance! Top knock! Stuck around when it was tough and everyone else fell over! Then cashed in when the bowlers were tired! Get the feeling he was told to go for it tonight as we won't be batting tomorrow...

Great stuff from Gary Ballance. As important an innings as Joe Root's was.

    SL 309-4 at tea.

Ballance looked a fish out of water, lets hope thats nerves not technique.

Nice ton by Ballance in the 2nd innings :-)

There you go - a perfect example of Cooks lack of captaincy skills - and such a basic one at that...
England are 390 runs ahead at start of play, with 1 day left - so, in other words, no way that Sri Lanka can win - and first over from Jimmy, the opener gets a snick through a GAP in the slips !!! - i mean, a GAP in the slips when you are 390 runs ahead, in the first over with the new ball.
Drives me crazy - how the hell can this man continue to be England captain.

    SL 46-1 after 13 overs.

I don't disagree Mr President. However, in SL's 1st innings, a catch went through the slips, because they were too close together !

Yep, i saw that - but nothing to do with captaincy - simply inexperience of the 2 players involved - in actual fact, maybe the captain should have told them to spead apart - but obviously didnt.
  • I'm there now. Flat, flat, flat pitch with Jayawardene and Sangakkara, brilliant!

    152-2. 38 overs left.

Time to get home and watch the drama I think.
  • Anderson puts in a great over. Racks the atmosphere up a little!
  • Ooooooh so close! I hate that umpires call thing on DRS. Can't stand it ...

All those overs lost due to the slow over rates would come in handy right now.

    Match drawn.

Herath walked, when he wasn't out.

SL batter, given out on penultimate ball, but saved by DRS.

Final ball fell just in front of the slips.

    Great finish.
