Can someone wake me up please. Nice dream though......

Strange to see an announcement before the deal is finalised but from his interview comments this looks like a formality.

So, if Big Bob likes playing a target man with attacking wide midfielders, it looks like we will be playing with 2 up front. Igor isn't the big guy and i can't see us shelling out what must be decent money for another bench warmer. I wonder if Polish Pete or Churchy will be shown the door.

    I don't understand

Who is the target man then?

Angola have had a bye through to the Group Stage of Qualifying and will face Burkina Faso.. Gabon and a Qualifier from an earlier round to make it through

FC Copenhagen's number 9, 16 goals in 44 apps, 22 year old Angolan international, interesting!

Didn't Polish Pete have a similar record for his club? Bit more confident with this one though if Bob already knows him. Plus, he's older and has played at a higher level than Pete.
Deemed worthy of starts in the Champions League against Galatasary an Real Madrid. Actual record last season was 13 in 29.

The comparison with Polish Pete is unfair as this guy has operated at a much higher level.
@RichCawleySLP: Vetokele came on in 90th minute of Champions League game at home to Real Madrid. Played 2nd half of 3-1 defeat to Galatasaray.
Oh dear. The stats website I looked at is obviously wrong then. Both games were listed as him having started.

    Edit*

BBC has him playing the whole game against Madrid and an unused sub against Galatasaray.

UEFA.com has him starting the final group game at home to Real Madrid and starting, but being substituted at half-time, against Galatasaray.
This is a 'Something good might have happened' thread.

    Nothing for you here.

Standard Liege tried to sign him in January

so we sign him & then lend him to SL.

wont ever see him wear the red of Charlton. FACT
I said words to that effect earlier but nobody listens to a bloody thing I say. We're a front for a Belgian-laundering operation.
With BP saying that RD was getting fed up with Belgian football, could it be that he is going to sell SL and concentrate on us as his major meal ticket?
  • Another nefarious piece of a massive underhand unscrupulous master plan to destroy the very fabric of this famous club!

    RD is an evil genious...
  • I let Banstead Jnr know about our new signing and tried to big him up. Instead he just shrugged with complete disinterest and said 'another Reza then'? He says what I feel.

He has all of the letters of Liege in his name. Indeed the rest of his name is surrounded by the letters of Liege

I will fetch you my gun
    Ahh thank you, much appreciated!!!!
  • Surely Angola must have to qualify first.

I may be naive but why can players play in the championship only if they have played there before? Its a hard and good league but not fabulous.

As has been well documented we came 9th with a 1st division squad and then with a bit of decent tactical and leadership ability won bundles at the end of last season.

    Football's football.

Cause then people wouldn't have anything to moan about
Ah the 'moan about people having a moan' post. Haven't seen that on here for a while....;-)
I wasn't moaning I was pointing out that we need to blend players who know the league, with those who don't.
Plus the standard of the RD players we've signed so far has been poor.
Hopefully the likes of Moussa and O'Grady will be next.
  • Too much negativity - very pleased with this signing, must of cost a few bob - asset stripping my arse, only way to get a roi is Premiership

You've answered your own question pal. Look at the team we won the 'bundles' of games at the end of last season, not a single Iran International, Belgium u21 player, Polish dud or French keeper in site. These were players who have been playing in England and primed to suit the style of play, brought up around it. The reason Reza is so good in Iran and struggling for us is exactly that, not because he's not good enough but he's not suited to English football (yet). We can't have a full team of that, can we!?
Nail on head. But I really hope Igor's a big success. He certainly looks the part. COYRs
  • i like what i see , i thought polish pete looked a dud , this fella looks like he has a bit about him
i'll put my managerial head on the block and say this fella is a good one
  • I let Banstead Jnr know about our new signing and tried to big him up. Instead he just shrugged with complete disinterest and said 'another Reza then'? He says what I feel.

bundle of laughs in your house then
  • Quite enthusiastic about this in a "not sure why as I've never heard of the guy" sort of way. Mind you I was enthusiastic about Polish Pete! Hopefully the first signing of at least a handful.

    You guys !!!!

One photo of Igor's wife & the innuendoes start a 'comin....

  • sounds positive, looks half decent. Better than o grady.

  • He's foreign therefore rubbish.

Wish we were signing some quality English proven Championship players like David Mooney and Kevin Lisbie instead.

To be fair Lisbie is the up and coming striker who will eventually come good just like RD wants.....

Indeed it is, laugh a minute at all times. Happy happy house!!! Just smile and you cannot help but be happy!!!
  • Before joining Copenhagen he scored nine times in 38 games for Cercle Brugge in the 2011-12 campaign, a side then managed by current Addicks boss Bob Peeters.
  • According to transfer markt copen payed 880k for him

    Yep €1M... That's about £880k?

I thought the fixtures were out Thursday, not Wednesday.

Tomorrow 9am always a pleasure looking forwards...

I believe it is essential we continue with mid-table form (which Riga delivered) in the first 10 games albeit with changes in personnel and by far the youngest squad in the division.
If we get to Christmas and nowhere near the bottom three then the point is proved:
CAFC average age 22 losing £3m a year...AFC Bournemouth average age 28 losing £15m... Which club has a future?!

You seem to think that a young squad is a strength, rather than a weakness. What makes you think that our young players are better than those at other Championship clubs? Bournemouth are far more likely to reach the play-offs next season than we are.

    Jensen was foreign
    Bartlett was foreign
    JJ was foreign
    Costa was foreign
and they were all good players in our Premiership team.

over the years we have had many more foreign players who have settled in well, we have had home players who haven't.

it doesn't matter where they came from but how they do for us

as for pointing the finger at the January imports, I believe that it has been admitted by the new management that mistakes were made, so do stop using it as a weapon to bash the RD management who seem to be trying to build a team. Good or bad we won't know until later in the year but give them all a chance.

    Agreed and Deep Breath...

Nicky Weaver.. Mark Hudson.. Andy Gray.. Svet Todorov.. Darren Ambrose.. Darren Ward.. Deon Burton.. Tresor Kandol
Jonathan Fortune.. Danny Butterfield.. Luke Varney.. Hameur Bouazza.. Linvoy Primus.. James McEveley.. Tom Soares
Graeme Murty.. Martin Craine.. Izale McLeod.. Keith Gillespie..

All those players had Championship experience when they were signed BUT they didnt stop us from being relegated from the Championship!!
