pre match interview up on Player. Whatever his limitations I do like George's one track mind. Win, points, win win , points points, we have to win, we have to get points, the guy expresses commitment to the cause far more than he mentions commitment to himself. I like his attitude a lot.
Good point - perhaps Peeters has suggested the team had better win some game or there will be replacements lined up. Some of these new arrivals are going places but for some their only ticket up is going to be with us. Reminds me of the 90s in a lot of ways.

I'm still standing by my view that George makes a big difference without even touching the ball sometimes. Getting in defenders faces or even just standing in a position that someone has to back off Igor on the off chance the ball spills away, standing on the half way line at defensive set pieces to draw big centrebacks out of the box... his goals return is not the greatest but I still prefer him to the likes of Church, who has plenty of running but with very little result.

I agree players like Gudmundsson and Vetokele I can see playing prem football at some stage in their career but players like George and Bulot I think their only chance is if its with us and players like Bikey and TBH will only play in the prem again if its with us
Hasn't played much last three years and I think target men take longer to grow into the game (Lambert, Holt etc) than speedsters unless you are a big lump which George isn't. Feel he could come good. Might have been par with Igor if chances from last match had fallen differently.
I like George and him and Igor are the best combination we have at the moment. We've seen flashes of what he can do but I think he's struggling a bit to settle in but once he does he'll do okay.
After Tucudean's first half efforts against Wolves I believe he is not such a good finisher and may not score so many goals for us in his career.
Disagree. All his attempts were decent well struck efforts. The first he rightly went accross the keeper just wide. The header didn't miss the bar by much, wide shot was well hit. Forget the other one. The air shot, mmmm, but seen similar from better players. Also Ikeme is a very good and big keeper, an important part of their recent success. And he was in the position to have the strike. How many would DB miss in a match?

Sometimes you get players who miss a lot but still score a fair few. George may well fall into this category as did Robert Lee in his early days as a striker. Even Igor has fluffed a few gilt-edged one on ones this season. Andy Hunt didn't set the world alight in his first season for Charlton (he didn't look like he could head at all) but in the next season and a bit he played like a multi-million pound striker. We all have a gut feeling about a player...mine at the moment is that George has enough about him to do ok.

I saw enough in the forty five minutes against Derby to make me believe me there's a diamond to be uncovered. He has the hunger to win and definitely would have a place in my squad.
Well well well. George seems to be one of those players that does more than you realise. Igor looked lost first half - I think George brings the best out of him.
Think there's a difference when a defense has to mark two men that Vetokele is able to exploit. Able to get 1-on-1 much easier than if he has both centre backs on him.
Bulot played more as an attacking midfielder so Igor was on his own pretty much in the first half.
This may not be a popular opinion but personally I would have George back as fourth striker. He is the type of striker we need and would be good enough as a back up to big Mak.
Last year he showed in flashes that he could do it he just needed to add consistency! I feel that will come when he has longer to adapt to the league.. The trouble last year is he was expected to be one of our main strikers and to make an impact immediately. He didn't have time to adapt!
I feel this year without the pressure of being no2 striker, and being used offor the bench or as rotation of injury cover he would be a good enough partner for either igor/watt..
George needed someone to teach him the English game. Backing in, standing on a defenders foot before you jump, holding on with a hand between two bodies. The nasty stuff that goes on under the ref's radar. They play more fair on continent.
So many positive comments about George though the few times I saw him he looked lightweight and bewildered. However, even under a new coach and different playing system to Bob's i am not certain the championship will ever suit him just like serie a didn't suit Makienok.

I actually think he was given a pretty fair amount of time, we didn't expect him to fully adapt after 20 games but he didn't show much consistency in any areas of his game (not just scoring wise). However, I would be happy with him as a backup as he was promising at times like you said.
Tucudean showed some really nice touches at times and showed some potential which said he could over time adapt to the English game, thing is fans dont have the time for players adapting anymore and unless you make an epic start to your career at a Football club then your soon written off by the fans (Same could be said for Simon Church).
What would be great for George is if we got Alan Shearer or Robbie Fowler in (Of course would never happen) to teach him how to go up against Defenders (and how not to), would seriously benefit his game

I liked George! I think Igor lost he's way after Tucudean left

Yes that's right. Tucadean should come back and replace Watt as Igors strike partner.

Played his part in changing it when he came on.

in front of the covered end, all he had to do was take one more touch to go around Forde and we would have won
