George Tucudean had a fantastic 2018 and scored 3 in 7 for the Romania National team and Scored 18 in 24 for CFR CluJ.
Missing a chance against Millwall put paid to his career at Charlton But I was pleased that I said he would be a success in his native Romania or a similar standard European League.
I have read that his Father had to quit football at 27 because of heart problems (this needs confirming) so to have to quit at a similar age is a terrible shame for George who was at the peak of his career.
George is 29 now and had hope to return but the consultants advised against it.
Don't think any goalkeeper got anywhere near to stopping a Buyens penalty.
I'll get lol'ed into oblivion I'm sure but I think Buyens is a good as any penalty taker there has ever been in world football, not sure I ever saw a keeper even go the right way, let alone save one
Sorry to hear about his heart problems, I hope he's going to be alright. Assumed he would have been older than that, it seems a lifetime away since he played for us. Thought he would have been retired by now anyway.
Shame about George. The ability was obviously there, just not the capability to do it consistently. The goals and assists against Derby and Bolton showed that he had some real talent, but he never really got a good shake of it at Charlton and we failed to turn him into a Yann type player. That Millwall chance is massively, massively overblown as well. He received the ball, the keeper came charging out to narrow the angle so George flicked it over him, and the Millwall defender got back before he could hit it. It only gets so much grief because it was Millwall, Vetokele missed a far, far worse one where he blasted it over the bar against Cardiff (off a Tucudean pass) but it doesn't get mentioned half as much, it's a shame people seem fixated on that chance.

Agreed. it's ridiculous how players can get slated and written off by fans due to ONE miss, just because it's against Millwall
I always thought it was crazy to loan Tucudean out after half a season with us, that's no time whatsoever
Anyone dare to post the Millwall miss ? As I said earlier, I'm hopeless at remembering players but I would have thought I'd remember someone missing a chance against them.

Or he could have like, smacked it in. To be fair, the keeper had made himself big. Needed a bit of loft and the keeper could have stuck a hand up. But I'm pretty sure any lofted shot was 90% likely to score
