I don't get why most of you even bother posting, if we do well and our players turn up then you will look like a bunch of fools for doubting. And if we don't meet the high expectations that some of you have (promotion this season, 40+ Goals Striker 6 ft 7, champions league in the next two years) what are you gonna do? Gloat that you were right in being pessimists? It's proper weird.
I like the change. Looking like we're getting a big squad together with exciting players and we could (hopefully) be a comfortable mid table team which everyone should be happy with. Maybe if we become more consistent in the championship and actually win the majority of our home games then we can start to discuss pushing for promotion, until then I think people should be greatful we're not in another club like Blackpools shoes and that we've actually made 7 new signings, some of which look like they have real quality. Also all the positives someone has posted a few posts back.
I'm happy we've signed George, I don't care about Yann anymore so I don't know why people still go on about him and are still hoping for his replacement. Quite frankly I think people overrate him cause of how poor we actually were.
So we've signed a lump used to playing in Romania, a central midfielder good at putting it about, a big ol' clogger of a centre half and another centre back best known for throwing an uncontrollable, terrifying tantrum when he got sent off for trying to take someone's knee off, all managed by a former Toolbox skinheaded target man.
Basically, this entire season is aimed at beating Millwall, isn't it

Given the choice Gazza, I'd settle for mid table mediocrity and normal outcome against the Spanners rather than doing the double over them and going down :-0

Righto captain. You being the guy who gave Nick Pope a rating of 0 out of 5 on Saturday :-)

To be fair boss, Pope had nothing to do other than kick one clearance ( under no pressure) into touch and pick the ball out of his net. Still worth 1 out of 5 for running on the pitch though :-0

Did you ignore the part where I said something along the lines of 'Not because he was bad, but because he was only tested once and he let it in' how can I give a goalkeeper a rating if he didn't have a chance to prove anything, hence the 0. Don't remember myself saying he was bad.
Middle aged man looking to up his 'lol' count, smooth.

You overlooked two crucial facts, he is not quite middle aged yet but is 'the Boss' :-0

Of course we will not know until the first few games what kind of side Bob is going to make out of this squad. But it seems to me that the spine of the team is very unproven. During most of the past three years it was Hamer, Morrison, Stevens(then Poyet) and Kermorgant. Now it is Pope,Morrison, Buyens and Tucudean. This level of inexperience of championship football in the spine of the team is a big gamble.

It's a forum mate. People are allowed opinions.
And the bit about our 7 new signings having real quality. I hope you're right and have seen them play many times to form that opinion and are not just going on the you tube videos.
I like the bit about gloating though and I can already see how this forum will be if the season goes tits up or we perform well.
We are all Charlton so thinking of other Charlton fans gloating if it goes Pete tong is actually proper weird.
So George's only playing second tier in Romania. How come that messi fellas in the photo with him didn't relise he played in second tier of Romania. But going on his World Cup perhaps he does did he even touch the ball in extra time against Germany. How did he get player of the tournament. James Rodney of Columbia all day meant Rodriguez correter text can't beat it.
I would never have put you as a child of the early 70's, amazing what can be done with photoshopping these days :-)
I'm a child of the early 70s, (42 in December) does that really make you middle-aged? If so, forget worrying about the state of second tier Romanian football, I'm more concerned about how long my hips have got left :-(

I know, but it's frustrating when people slate players when it's better than nothing or waiting till the last minute to loan someone, we're not exactly gonna sign Dzeko are we. With Youtube videos you obviously can't entirely judge a player, but the fact that the majority of our signings have shown pure quality in a youtube reel is a positive sign for me. Hopefully they'll all have enough time to settle in.
The other positive in these signings is that the bigger the squad the more people will have to fight for their place. It can work a few ways but it might motivate people to play better so they get their start consistently or they perform better when they do get the chance cause the pressure is off. E.g. Igor nets a few goals, Church comes on as a sub when the game is already won, gets a goal himself and finds some confidence. Unlikely, but here's to hoping. I'm definitely more excited for this season than I was the start of last season so it can't be that bad what's going on.
Huge Charlton Life disrespect on here to the Romanian 1st Division. (Shock)
December 2012 Champions League : Manchester Utd 0 - CFR Cluj-Napoca 1
April 2013 : CFR Cluj-Napoca 0 - Dinamo Bucharest 1
Not sure what CAFC would have done versus any of those a year ago even including the mighty Yann, Dale and Beardy Ben. Just my opinion but I think we could have been overwhelmed and embarrassed.
Not sure why so many like to belittle pretty much anything football that isn't British as we all know how wonderful our home nations are.
Two-cho-dee-an or Tuh-co-dean or Tuh-co-dee-an or even Tuh-chuh-dee-an?
"Zoo-koo-dan"? judging from Romanian commentary above where he scores 4.
Don't forget, folks ...... there's a thingy under the letter T, which no doubt changes the pronunciation?
I wonder what the thingy is called. I've never seen one before - not that I study Romanian too often. Or, are my eyes just getting bad and it's good old fashioned cedilla?

@AddickUpNorth No not on reflection mate, according to the definition it is 45 to 65. I am happy to be though for a little bit longer :-)
According to BBC (sorry if on here anywhere) but George is a free transfer, surely no one can moan if he did not cost anything? Looking at the player squads, we have lost 15 players, brought in 7 plus the two young lads and Gomez was not included last year, so we have 10 new players for the first team squad, so far. If you look at the players that went in the summer (no not January) can you honestly say we are worst off? I know we have not seen all of them play yet (not at all to their full potential) but these 10 look better than the 15 who left, at least on paper (shame we don't play on paper) and we have only paid out for Igor.

Well unless Roland writes a cheque out to himself, I'm sure he was free.

Yes I realise that, but according to FFP there is not a debit now on CAFC account.
17 of the 32 goals he scored were with Dinamo Bucherest - one of the biggest teams in a league whose runners up beat Man Utd in the Champions League. Should be fine versus the might of Leeds, Blackpool, Rotherham and Millwall.
Does anyone here even remember last summer? Oh yeh, I know what you did last summer. You waited. And you waited. And you waited some more. And NOTHING HAPPENED.
