one thing stands out from the Wales/Belgium game .. Wales have a much better midfield than England . come to think on it .. Wales has a better team all round
Big result for Iceland that, bloody incredible for a population of less than 400,000. Shows how a perfect football infrastructure from the bottom up is key to success, they've nailed it with the youth football at all levels.
Got a couple of videos sent to me from the game, goosebump stuff!

Disagree. How close would, Simon Church, Robson Kanu, Joe Ledley, Ashley Williams, James Collins, Hennessey etc get near an England team? I would say Ramsey and Bale get in. Ashley Williams in the squad.
They have great organisation, work ethic and spirit.
They have had a great qualification but I would put my house on England getting further next year in the Euros.

Bale and Ramsey would be top 2/3 players (with Rooney) for a combined team but I don't think any of their other players would start for us? They have a decent team and I'd like to see them at the Euros but lets not get ridiculous. They have other decent players like Joe Allen/Hennessey/Williams but they would be squad players at best for us and lets not start on the likes of Robson-Kanu.
I wouldn't be confident about playing them but that doesn't mean we aren't better.

Yeah we know its the 'thing' to criticise England but you don't honestly believe that do you?????
Bale plays off the striker so debatable whether he's even a 'midfielder' but you actually think Taylor, Allen, Ramsey and Ledley is better than Henderson, Wilshere, Milner/Ox/Townsend/Walcott/Lallana??
The facts are Wales have just the two players who would get in the England 18, But England have cruised through the qualifying in recent times then freeze on the big stage or are shown up for their lack of quality. A bit of both really.
Wales are playing to their max at the moment, 58 years of pain could be coming to an end.
Can someone ring Ray Houghton and tell him, Rep of Ireland are in a 4-4-2 Diamond and Scotland are 4-2-3-1. He's having a mare with the formations. Numpty.

Give me some leeway for poetic licence ((:>) .. I looked on the Welsh midfield as an effective unit, i.e. a greater sum than the value, of the constituent parts, they are all very different players, just what is needed in the midfield .. the Allen/Ledley/Ramsey axis is very effective. ... Half of the England 'midfielders' you mention are neither fish nor fowl.. The Ox (defo not fish nor fowl lol), Townsend, Walcott .. are they strikers/10s or midfielders ? .. I really rate Ramsey, Ledley is very underrated as is Allen, I am still waiting for wunderkind Wilshere to do something noteworthy in the white shirt, Henderson I would rate on a par with Ramsey and Milner is what he is, not the most constructive, creative midfielder but a wholehearted performer .. other Welsh players, not midfielders ? .. I rate defenders Williams and Collins both higher than (especially) Smalling or Jones, though Jones is improving .. for me the best British partner for Cahill, other than Terry, would be Williams .. he of course is a Taff .. Bale ? .. any team in the world would love him in their squad
Like Giggs before him, what a difference Gareth Bale would make to England. England are the international equivalent of a mid table Premier a League team and adding that X-Factor could really help us, maybe at least move us from also rans to dark horses. Aaron Ramsey would be a very welcome addition too. Make no mistake though, even if we were putting together a GB team it would be an almost entirely English first XI.
I know they were never highly rated but what's happened to the Greek team? Finished second in their group in Brazil 2014, now bottom of a group featuring Faroe Islands, Romania, Northern Ireland, Finland and Hungary.
Joe Allen would definitely be in the England squad. He's precisely the kind of ball-holder and passer we could do with, although 45 minutes after putting on an England shirt he'd probably be giving up possession with most touches.
Also, Milner's crossing is excellent. I think that goes a bit unnoticed.

Is joe Allen better than Carrick? Not convinced myself.

Don't agree with Joe Allen, although a fairly decent player I don't think he's above anything weve already got.
Completely 100% agree about Milner though. Think he's the most underrated player in the Premier league. Great crosser.

Fair points although you've taken probably our worse defenders and compared them to Wales best. Cahill is probably one of the best natural old school centre backs in the world. Jones and Smalling are woeful but jags and clyne are ahead of them anyway. Stones is also an excellent up and coming centre back. I've mentioned Wilshere before, think he gets a lot of uncalled for stick. Wasn't long ago he won 3 MoM awards in a row for England.
With the exception of the last few months, Kompany is surely one of if not the best. Not sure what old school quite means, but Id have Varane in the top list. Subotic. Barzogli. Hummels...

add another MOM to the collection .. and last night's performance generally undermined (not underlined) my Welsh is best 'theory' ((:>)

Lincs he and others have turned in rubbish performances before so they shouldn't go without constructive criticism.
If Wilshere can stay fit then he will be the best talent we've produced in years.

Name me better apart from Terry. Chiellini...I'm struggling now.
