  • Good news at least we have cover at CB now for the rest of the season

yes but if we go 3 5 2 then we will need another
  • Is certainly getting on a bit.. can't see him being offered a contract past this season...
  • He's 32 after all, can't expect speed lol
  • Doesn't look the most mobile but a big unit with experience. Good signing.

Gomez can cover any of the 3 CB positions plus the right wing back,
Only play him left wing back when the scouts are here and we want to put them off!

Perhaps after the experiment of turning Chris Solly into Philipp Lahm by playing him in midfield, we can next play him at centre back and use his height :-)
  • I like him. Heaven knows he has waited long enough to get a kick of the ball.
Although he needs to watch he doesn't get caught upfield (a nice way of saying he is a bit slow).

He's going to struggle to hold down a place if he keeps pulling hamstrings and his history of playing in the last few years doesn't exactly fill one with confidence that he will be fit - just 45 appearances for six clubs in four years.

  • Seriously.... getting rid of hardened MM who is proven (and more than good enough) at Championship level on a free and getting in this bloke, to probably shave a little bit off the wage bill is nuts. No offence to Onyewu intended. Just ridiculous business

But then that is what RD is all about as evidenced by one or two players departing and doing very well elsewhere. We are now at the stage where we are not thinking "well at least X can come in" when one of our players is injured but "who the hell is going to come in?".

Yeah for fucks sake why are we getting in ex-American international and ex-AC Milan and Sporting Lisbon in :( RD out

Where he was part of a defence that conceded 19 goals in the final seven matches of last season. Strange they didn't keep him and Llera as they've already let in 21 in 24 matches this season!

And his appearances for Wednesday were almost as many as he had made in his other five clubs in the last four years so something hasn't worked out for him has it - loss of form or injury? In either case he's not an ideal back up.

For Rolly's pocket he might be. :-0

Not if he doesn't play due to injury. I'd be happy to be an even cheaper backup who doesn't play :-)
  • So, how long is he out for? does anyone know
  • What is the deal with this bloke? Even Guy/Roland seem to recognise that Bikey needed to be dropped, hence Johnson was rushed into the starting 11 at the first opportunity. Most on here would agree that Bikey should ideally have been rested/dropped a good few weeks ago, yet however bad it got neither Peeters nor Luzon were willing to use him. Can he really be that bad?
  • I think the answer lies from his appearances in the last five years:

    2009–2011 Milan 0
    2011 Twente (loan) 8
    2011–2013 Sporting CP 17
    2012–2013 Málaga (loan) 2
    2013–2014 Queens Park Rangers 0
    2014 Sheffield Wednesday 18
    2014-15 Charlton Athletic 3

And the fact that, in the last eight games he's started for both us and Wednesday he has been part of a defence that has leaked no less than 22 goals i.e almost three goals a game!

So he seems to be very injury prone (known to get injured in the warm up) and even when he does play he's just not good enough at this level.

  • The extension of his contract was one of the most baffling decisions of the last transfer window in my view.

I can (just) about understand getting him in when Morro went to see us to the transfer window ,but then he hardly played in the three months and on his first planned start he pulled up injured in the warm up . It was rumoured that he was planning to return home to the USA for the MLS season . I am not sure when the window for that closes.

To be fair he must have been a decent player in his day . Milan and Newcastle do not shop in Lidl .

It is a shame like with American Football he cannot come on just to take our throw ons . He did add that dimension against Cardiff and it was a potent weapon.

If he plays no further part this season he won't be the first bum steer Roland has been given by his so called 'advisors', he needs to wise up before they waste even more of his money and have a rethink on using their services in future.

Think you've answered your own question there mate.

  • He is not very good.
  • Wonder if Reza would write the same about Chris Solly if they met in a shop

Why is that, A bit of history between the two ?

Onyewu thinks he is better than John Terry.

Wonder if Reza would write the same about Chris Solly if they met in a shop

Why is that, A bit of history between the two ?
Seem to remember a rumour where Chris confronted Reza after that massive Huddersfield defeat where the latter got himself deliberately sent off. Wasnt it something along the lines of: "You'll never understand what it means playing for Charlton"

He had a pretty good pop at him during as well. Followed Reza off the pitch screaming in his ear as he trudged off after his red
