I'm former RN, now retired from active service, but still working for the Service in a training capacity in a large shore training establishment.
We don't do office "parties" as such. Rather, there are a series of informal 'call rounds' to various departments for (what is called) Wobbly Coffee. It starts off as coffee with a shot of rum, brandy or whisky in it, but pretty soon the coffee gets ignored and we just finish off the bottles.
There is a formal Christmas bop in the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess and that's ok, but the dinner time session the day before leave commences is always a better bash. Hic.
Not a lot of work gets done in the last week before leave commences.
My firm have hired out a bar in the city. Free bar all evening / night. Only downside is that my work colleagues are going. For this reason, I won't be.
City Social for dinner on the 19th (they owe us a load of money so we are getting some back via running up a huge bill) then probably somewhere in the city after.

Park Lane Hotel next Friday. First Christmas party in years so looking forward to it even though I'll be leaving early to get the train home. Also got two team Christmas lunches to look forward to and all free!
I honestly don't know. I decline the offer every year so thankfully they've stopped asking. I can honestly say I do not like anyone I work with and can't think of anything worse than spending an evening with a load of people who go out once a year and have no idea how to enjoy themselves.
My first was on Monday, lunch in a nice place in Mayfair, my second was today in a restaurant full of rascals in Fulham. My actual work one is tomorrow back in Mayfair then I have others on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 17th and 18th. I can't wait till the 19th when it is all over tbh.

It's a hard life ;-)
There's only one Xmas party that I know of, and that'll be the Blackburn away coach journey on the 20th

I will be going to a Christmas Breakfast Friday morning. In the past these have been quite raucous events, but after about 20 years we calmed down... a bit.
I expect to be slightly the worse for wear at about 9:30am and it'll be down hill all the way from there. Supposed to be going for a drink and seeing a band in the evening - will it happen???
Ours is this Friday at The Somers Town Coffee House up between Euston & King's X. We've paid a sliding scale (us managers chipping in most) to fund the bar, bit of a buffet and the boss has agreed to dust off his DJ skills for a few hours. No groans there, he's part of a group of DJs known as The Boom Brothers and pretty good at it. Bar open til 2am...I suspect we'll have to refinance it a few times for the "youngsters"!!
Also have a group of us (6 lads) who still do our fellas Xmas club fund. Since we started work in 85/86, we put £10 a month away and go out and get bladdered. The last few years it has been finding gigs, rather than a night in numerous unsavoury bars...one mentioned on thread already...this year it's Madness at The O2 on the 20th.
Bowling in Westfield Stratford tomorrow at some place that has a nice restaurant for after too then me and a few of the other younger ones going out for a drink after.

We are based in Dartford but fancied a change so we are heading into town this time.
1st ever work Christmas do/party. Strangely looking forward to it though in situations like this I have the social capabilities of a worm.
I turned down the chance to go as two weeks later I'll e out in Las Vegas with work anyway and will more than make up for it.
