Had a really tame meal last Friday with my head office. This Saturday it’s the ‘big one’ with the whole company at a big hotel, 3 course meal and unlimited drinks.
@cabbles so far from being in a bad position. Luckily I have a great team so we’re still doing something but it’s out of our own pocket. Still reflects badly on senior management.
@shag I’ll have a look and come back to you. It was okay last year, except the owners of the company choose that cut of steak you share, can’t remember what they call it.
I eat a lot and and I’m not about the awkward sharing and fearing I’m taking more than I should. If we’ve got steak again I’ll be hungry again an hour or so after we eat.
Tapas is about the only food I can do sharing in groups
Not had the staff do for my small company, that I whinged about a few months ago (incidentally out of the seven staff only two are now going, the one that books the venue and her bestie). Have had the first of the fire station nights out, still have the local Indian meal the last Tuesday before Christmas but on Saturday we ventured up to Covent Garden for a meal and pub crawl.
Mine is at Bristol Museum ( Live in Southampton ) Themed like "Night at the Museum" film. Quite lucky as work are paying for my train fare up there and accommodation for the night. Oh and all beer at the event. Looking forward to it tbh!
I sold my business earlier in the year but I am still helping out until things settle down.
The new owners are putting on lots of small bite size events throughout the SE this year in an effort to cater for everyone's tastes and location. Last Friday a big group of us went Go-Karting at the indoor track in Charlton. The racing was superb and unlimited pizza was supplied. We all then went for drinks in the O2.
Next Friday there is a curry night where they have booked an entire restaurant in Hook, Surrey with all the food covered and a free bar.
It has gone down well with the staff and they are able to choose what event they attend based on likes and where they live.
Fizz, bacon rolls and Secret Santa at 10am. Ten pin bowling and beers (2 games) at midday. Lunch at Cote on Wardour St at 2. My staff are free from 5pm to do whatever they like.
Can't think of anything worse than having to socialise with my current work colleagues, especially somewhere I've got to pay £40 out of my own pocket for what amounts to a Chinese Buffet and a cheap disco. As such, regretfully turned down my invite to the office Christmas dinner.
Had team drinks last night and have a team lunch and department drinks next week with a company do at The Brewery the following week followed by a half day Christmas session on the 22nd.
Working in the city during December is a bloody health hazard.
Department do was on MONDAy that you had to pay for. To sit with dullards and young scrote gruates ? No thanks
The firms do is next Friday - black tie at the grosvenor. Actually a good do with gratis grub and booze but really can't be arsed with spending my time with work colleagues.
Am starting to think I should probably leave where I work.
My missus is sitting on the sofa in her PJ’s suffering, after going on hers last night. The do was in the Warren in Hayes but she ended up at ORA in Bromley slinging shots down her neck.
