Choice of Guimaraes as a venue is odd. The best supported team outside the big 3 TBF, but only 30k capacity. Porto fine, but both big Lisbon clubs could have fitted a lot more in.

Yes. Never heard of Guimaraes before, I see it's quite near to Porto, I don't know if that was a factor

Criteria was 2 stadiums each with a capacity of at least 30,000, in the same city or no more than 150km apart, so Benfica/Sporting and Porto/Guimaraes both meet that criteria but obviously the Lisbon option offers a much larger capacity.
I suppose a Croatia vs Switzerland fixture would have possibly struggled to fill a 60k stadium, but I should think England and the Netherlands (and presumably Portugal as well) will sell as many tickets as we're given.
Lisbon gets plenty of tourists anyway. For Guimaraes, and Porto to a lesser extent, 5 days of football supporters drinking the place dry is a nice pay day for the bars, restaurants and hotels.

Google Maps says 37 minutes in a car between Porto airport and the stadium in Guimaraes.

50km from Porto. I got the vague impression from the UEFA website that 3/4th place and final were on the same day, but wasn't clear at all. Easy to get back to Porto anyway, could even do it in a cab if there's a few of you to split the fare.
@palarsehater are you in the England Travel Club? If so, any guesses as to what proportion of the capacity we might get? presume it will be a lot higher than World Cup/Euros.

yes i am mate, im on 27 caps so working off that any allocation of over 2157 ive got a ticket, currently there are 9588 travel club members which you have to be a part of to buy an official england away ticket, previous comps its 16% so;
porto would be 8000 official tickets guimares would be 4800 offical tickets
of course this wont have the interest major tournaments have had and cant imagine there will be as many corporates as previous more serious comps.
what would be best for ticketing reasons would be get portugal in the semis as they would then host that game and surely the final should we beat them would have to be in porto.
i will be waiting until 3rd december before booking anything as want to see who we get in the euro qaulifying group the draw is on 2nd dec.

Same as myself. I have missed all the cheap direct flights, so will shop around for a good alternative. Tbh, there are plenty of airports within 3/4 hours of Porto, which will attract plenty of supporters coach. Also, with 20 trains a day between Lisbon and Porto, there will be plenty going this route.
I’ll judge who we have in the qualifiers to assess how much annual leave I can take for this one.

It doesn’t unfortunately. The summer 2019 competition is only for a trophy and has no impact on Euro 2020 qualifying.
If, by the end of 2019, we fail to finish top two in our Euro 2020 qualifying group then we will be entered into the March 2020 playoffs alongside three other non qualified League A Nations. Switzerland, Portugal and Netherlands get priority as group winners.
If there’s less than four teams from League A that failed to qualify, they will start adding teams from League B to make up the numbers.
Still fully expect Scotland to balls this up, it's what they do - won't qualify and also won't get the benefit of being relegated to a league lower next time.

Sounds a nice place. 50km from Porto
I’m sure there’s more examples throughout our history but that’s the one that springs to mind for me.

Any top club should pay whatever it costs to get him, he's going to be top level for the next 12-15 years.
Godin is the best centre back in the world at he minute though, rather than Van Dijk, in my opinion.

Sweden getting promoted to League A at the expense of Russia if they hold on to the lead.
