Really positive stuff from England going at 4 an over so far in these final 10 overs.

Root must've heard me and hit a boundary next ball. :-)
  • 100 n/o for Joe Root at exactly a run a ball. Well done him!
  • 232-4, 44 overs
  • Root gets a slowish 100 but 100 it is

Brilliant over for England with one ball to go. Much better work from Root and Taylor.

And the last ball goes for four too. 25 from the over!!

Root gets a slowish 100 but 100 it is

But smashes 20 off his next 5 balls,

    257-4 off 45
  • 5 overs to go and 2 of them to be bowled by Malinga.

    259-5, 45.3 overs

Taylor gone for 25 from 26. Good time for Buttler to come in and hopefully face 10-15 balls.
  • Ouch - Buttler gets hit on the head first ball from Malinga

& Buttler hits his second ball for four. Get 'em Jos!

Root given out lbw off the spinner but he's reviewed it.

Clipping leg stump so decision stands on umpire's call. Root out for 121 from 108.

    279-6, 48 overs & Malinga is bowled out @ 1-63
  • Gonna end up with a pretty average score for modern ODI cricket.

The spinner Herath has broken a finger trying to get a c&b off Buttler with one ball left in the over. Perera the paceman replaces him for one ball.

That ball goes for four off Woakes' bat.

    287-6, 49 overs

Lakmal to bowl the final over. Has been SL's most expensive (in terms of runs per over) bowler so far.

First ball is a no ball boundary for height & so no free hit.

Second ball (technically first) also goes for four. 296-6, 49.1 overs

Two consecutive dot balls is followed by a six. 302-6, 49.4 overs

Another no ball for height and so Lakmal has been forced to come off bowling. He'll be replaced by Dilshan for the final two bowls, as Herath was replaced by Perera last over.

303-6, 49.4 overs & two balls of spin to come.

    Run a two down to mid-off. 305-6, 49.5 overs
  • England finish on 309-6 off their 50 overs. Gotta be happy with that from where we were.

Buttler 39 not out from 19 balls

  • Good score, looks like sl may only have 9 batters.
    Game on.

Lol! Such a Charltonized comment. ;-)
  • SL 67-0, 12 overs
  • 100-1, 19 overs

    Dilshan 44 (55) c Morgan b Ali

    Needed that wicket.
  • 166-1, 30 overs

This run chase is far too easy. It's ominous.
  • 197-1, 35 overs with 4 overs of powerplay to go. SL are dominating.
  • 210-1, 36 overs.

    100 required from 84 balls.

    227-1, 38 overs.

Can't believe Ali hasn't caught their opener on 98... and now he gets to 100. Was also dropped by Root on 3.
  • 242-1, 39 overs

    68 required from 66.
  • 255-1, 41 overs

    55 from 54
