Disagree with that. Etheridge hasn't done much wrong.
He doesn't seem to want to come for crosses how many corners of the 16 did he he come for at Ipswich to take pressure off the defence? Doesn't appear to be that commanding of his defence and has poor distribution. We can't afford the time to get him or Pope who is much of a muchness up to speed in the first team which is having a very poor run of form. Just my opinion like FWIIW.
If its a goalkeeper, centre back, midfielder and tony watt coming in then that's the least we need. Still think we need one more striker as well as watt but I'll still be happy if we sign 4 players in this window
Agreed but only two of those four will (I hope) noticeably improve the team. Our CB's are ok and the GK position is too. Be glad that BP has more options but I was hoping for two strikers and two in midfield. The GK and CB are nice but not essential IMHO. In fact I would prefer a championship left back in on loan.
Agree current CBs have been ok but you need more than 2. Cb only essential now with morrison gone and onyewu injured. Goalkeeper only worth getting if better than pope. With Henderson out possibly long term an experienced keeper is a good move as not hearing amazing things about etheridge and pope has had a dip. I've not seen etheridge play as not been to last few games so can't comment.
Would much prefer 2 strikers as well. But additional midfielder is good with bulot off to nations cup and tbh I still think we are very thin in that area anyway.
Gonna be watching forum amd twitter with keen interest this month
I was talking to someone at the opening of the Museum. I can't tell you who, and I can't tell you what they said, as that would be breaking a confidence. However, as a result of that conversation, I'm hopeful for the rest of the season. Not ridiculously "we're going to storm the division" hopeful, but hopeful, nonetheless.

I would like to see a decent keeper who can claim crosses. It is no surprise that with Henderson injured, the defence is shipping goals. With Dillon Phillips going to Bishops Stortford, I was momentarily hopeful that a decent goal keeper would be coming in - but see the rumour from Doctor Kish -
We understand that Upjest's Serbian Under-21 keeper, Marko Dmitrovic, is the most likely candidate.
'The 6'4" stopper has previously trialed at Watford and was once on the books of Red Star Belgrade. Upjest are within Roland Duchatelet's network of clubs, so a move is feasible'
Marko to replace Phillips. Etheridge as No.1 and Pope as No.2. If this is the case then RD really does not have a clue at what is required at Championship level football. I hope that I am wrong and a proper goal keeper is coming in at No 1.

Proof in that pudding will be evident or not over the next few weeks.
Unfortunately what RD and his team picking the players think is adequate does not seem to match up with the reality of what is needed. I will take the reassurance with a pinch of salt. Unless Karel Freye is being lined up and has requested certain decent players in the team to prepare the way for him ?

Was it me? If so you can pretty much discount everything I said, except for the apology about the sausage roll, that was genuine
I thought Katerien and RD's plan was to....plan. I thought they were all about running a business and making strategic decisions? Yes they've tarted up the stadium, yes they've invested in youth. All good. But the transfer 'policy' looks totally amateur. We've been crying out for players since August and the thought was our strategic leader was planning for January. What do we get...? Another Liege cast off. Yes we need to wait until the end of the window to judge but at the moment this feels very much like the Cash era.
It's not fun supporting Charlton at the moment, more of a chore, but c'mon I don't think things are as bad as the previous regime.
You mention the pitch and sprucing up of the ground, maybe that has been part funded by cutting the player budget.
As long as we don't ship out all our best players in January, as we did last January, then I am prepared to be patient.
Roland / Katrien, has got to have their finger on the pulse in terms of understanding how the fans are feeling right now about things, ie fed up and disillusioned that we could be doing so much better.
My personal take is they are trying to see how good our academy currently is by giving young lads a sink or swim approach, some will make it, some will be shipped out, but we need to keep making progress, however you define it.

That's the last time I tell you anything in confidence.

We don't know what he's been told to do though do we? I might ask where Ben Haim and Bikey are for set pieces as well. I don't think his distribution is a problem. He mixes it a bit so it's not predictable for the opposition. All for that.

Fair points but something has seriously gone wrong at the back or more to the point a combination of factors. A solid defence like we had earlier in the season was a back 5 working together in unison has been disrupted by 40% since Wiggins and Henderson got injured.
Goals are being conceded much more easily defenders are becoming ill disciplined and confidence is dropping amongst the rest of the back 5, Bikey and TBH cases in point? Add an experienced left back and goalkeeper who won't take any crap from the two senior CBs in front of him and get them back to basic defending. Add to that a decent shield in front of them because defending starts from the front and we achieve some clean sheets which will give us at least a point or maybe 3 if we can nick something at the other end.
Simple really but time is running out for 'developing' young and or inexperienced pros unless we want to do it in L1 next season. Wait until our Championship staus is safe and then play the U21s every game for all I care.

This. At the beginning of the year I was confident we be able to defend 20-30 minutes of pressure at the end of the game without conceding, now we cant even defend for the first 10 minutes.
We need them two back soon or serious replacements.
Not a rumour but I see Kelly Youga seems to have put his injury problems behind him, playing 24 games in China. I'm sure he'd jump at a chance to return to UK. Would be cheap, versatile, has Champ experience and would be decent cover for Wiggiins allowing Fox to learn at a lower level.

How many of them 16 corners were anywhere near him to come and catch most were out swingers that went near the penalty spot
While we need better players in certain positions, what we really need is more players. Without Coquelin, our midfield has clearly run out of steam, but we have nobody to bring in to give it some energy. Cousins, for one needs a rest.

I thought keepers were allowed to come and collect or punch the ball anywhere in the penalty box, Pope did at Forest or are you suggesting he is a Subuteo goalie on a length of wire? Early days for him and I hope my initial worries as to his capabilities are unfounded.

:-)
Proof of the pudding as the saying goes.
Let's hope the lessons of last January and this summer have been learnt.
just finding a network player who plays in the position that needs strengthening doesn't automatically improve the side as we have repeatedly seen.
Igor and JBG both came from outside the network. Bikey too. TBH had already played in England.
So that leaves Buyens who's done ok IMHO but picks up lots of silly cards. This is his 2nd suspension already.
Who else from the network has really impressed?
It's been a bumpy ride since the takeover and I don't expect that to change during this window.
Just hope it is a positive and upward bump.
2x striker
1 left midfielder (so cousins can go cm)
1 centre back
1 gk
5 signings. Won't happen but imo that's what we need
