  • Being contrary, if Ben Pringle was that highly rated by the football world, then someone better then Millwall would be after him?

good point .. his size would put a lot of managers off .. the 'better' clubs in the champ have well settled midfields and have established a pattern of play .. Pringle might not be a fit for these clubs .. the poorer clubs like us have to wheel and deal, cash and wages on offer are at a premium .. I am surprised that Evans is prepared to let Pringle go but there are rumours of a falling out and Rotherham need the money to bring in fresh blood .. the irony .. sell one of your best players to bring in new probably inferior players ..anyway, he's not gone anywhere yet
I think his contract runs out in the summer, so they feel they need to get a bit of money for him. Of course we wouldn't sell key players in January whose contracts were about to run out in the summer would we...

This is not a rumour, but I read in the Danish media today, that Wigan may loan out Kvist, if he's interested himself - his contract expires in the summer. Kvist is a great player, though he has gotten a lot of stick for his playing style on the national team over a period. he's very cautious and has been prone to make a lot of backpasses, taking the tempo out of the game. In the recent national matches he's been great though, the last one being a qualifier against Serbia back in November, where he was massive in defense and contributed great on offense as well. He would be a great signing, but not exactly the big creator - he's far more defensive minded. I just remember he was mentioned sometime earlier in the window

Nuts. Hope all these good names we've been linked with - Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek, Smith, Zelalem, Blackstock - aren't just tittle tattle. One or two of them would really strengthen us

I hope you don't keep looking at this thread expecting any of your named players signing, unfortunately
I do. There's no point being a Charlton fan if you don't raise your hopes up unnecessarily

the 'rumour' I heard was .. Bale out (the boat is sinking) and Hazard in ... Bale for all his 'success' does not quite seem to fit the Real Madrid template

I suppose if he is that desperate to play, we could accommodate Bale somewhere, even if it is on the bench

Hmmm he'd have to join the bottom of a long list of our striking options...

He is lucky that Pygott has gone to Southend and Church may be going to Millwall

We don't need more tat from the Welsh national team thanks. Who's to say he's any better than Churchinio?

It's all very well having a long term project. But if we keep on losing, that long term project could be carrying on in Div1.

if that is the case then prepare for life in League 1 as the squad we have at the moment isn't good enough to stay up.

I think the same. BUT ....... They haven't given the no. 9 shirt to Watt so does that mean we might be getting another striker (on loan)?

More to the point, for me, is the need to clarify to us, the fans, what the plan is. If just avoiding relegation this season is seen as a good start, then what?

And I might not be around to see it come to fruition !

Watt looked good, but I hope the "what" is more than just "Watt", what?

We aren't gonna sign anyone else for at least 10 days if at all.

In case you hadn't noticed the head coach doesn't sign his own players so Bob's replacement is irrelevant. Katrien has indicated not replacing Yann was a mistake. Hope she doesn't assume Watt is that type of player. Ciftci is; although not currently playing that role.
