Think we were just unlucky last couple of games before today.

We could have had at least 6 pts to the good going into today a couple of wins can turn things around.

    I do love an optimist
Been following for 45 years you have to be.

53 years for me, and yes, you are quite right. It just was so much more enjoyable in the 60's and 70's.

Well at least some of the posters who did not give an opinion when we played so well in the 2nd half on
    boxing day will return,
I have only ever looked at our points total down to the 22th team,

In matches when we play with 2 strikers up front we always create more chances, like we did tonight.
the fact that the 2 up front wen't good enough on the night does not alter that.

sounds like the one position that gomez struggled at in the defence is LB?
I know there was a late change but a couple of us said play solly LB and Gomez RB.

if you don't play well enough in both boxes you lose.

The Brighton home match is vital that we are pro-active and on the front foot.

Hell's Bollocks that's a grim result. Given Ipswich's form I half expected a loss but not at 3-0.

All eyes will now be on the transfer window. RD needs to cough up some dosh and get some good players in otherwise we are well and truly stuffed. We just cannot score goals - and it looks like our defence is now falling apart.

Don't know why it's gone so pear shaped. We started the season proper in surprisingly good form. Is it just that we are so predictable that we are outplayed or is there something rotten gnawing away underneath?

    Praying for miracles....

Duchatelet isn't going to spend proper money FACT!

A couple of short deals or freebies maybe but i think he'll be thinking there is no prospect of promotion this season, so why spend more money on the squad. Let them bump along till the end of the season and take stock again in the summer.

    In league 1

It's not as if struggling to score goals is anything new. We've found it difficult to find the back of the net for a couple of years now and under three different managers. Does our 'scouting network' not see this?

Our chronic lack of goals will do us some serious damage this season. Games have been there for the taking. Don't think we are a million miles from the sides at the top but they have people that score and we don't

    Perfectly put.
Thought the result was harsh, to say the least.

    Delort?

Plays for Wigan. We didn't sign him and then didn't have a plan B. He's hardly setting the world alight for Wigan either.

As I have said before we are in free fall like Blackpool last season and I do not think Peters is the man to turn things round. It will be interesting to see whether or not Roland is willing to give him money to reinforce the squad. Perhaps he will be thinking of a change in Manager?

Can people wait to see what actually happens in January before sticking the knife in.

This whole month it's felt that the squad were just waiting for reinforcements to come in, and i'm sure Bob is expecting some new faces in this window.

    But there's the rub.

The new faces were needed when we doing well to keep moving forward. They didn't come other than Coquelin who then left.

The "promise" was jam tomorrow if we were still near the top six. But now we're not, largely IMHO because we didn't strengthen when we were doing well.
Agree in principle but were the funds there to strengthen at the time you suggest?

9 points from the last 11 league games
SCP was sacked with 12 points from his last 11 league games

    #stirrer

SCP could have got 18pts from his last 11 he still would have been sacked. Unfortunalmente.

There is definitely ability in this squad .
I don't believe the players are performing regularly enough to their maximum ability

No surprise with the result but it definitely feels like we're looking down now rather than up
Wouldn't fancy seriously Reds bet we finish above Wednesday

Concentrate on the cup but if anyone was at blackburn they won't have much hope of us getting a result unless Rovers rest a load

how can anyone say Jackson had a good game he was non existent! The game by-passes him and he's knackered after an hour.
Georgeous George had a mare and Igor is a million miles off the pace still.
Buyens, Guddy and tbh played ok and that's about it.

Igor battled hard and worked his socks off but George didn't support him as he should and by 65 minutes Igor was totally knackered.
George, if you read these forums, you have a responsibility to put in a decent shift to enable your link players to go the full 90.

My bet with OP is looking on the ropes now but I'm more concerned about my handicap bet vaporising - that was set to pay out 550 last month.

To stop this slide something has to change!
    1) is Tony Watt arriving and will he make a difference?
    2) I would have Ajdarevic back straight away. Great vision and dead ball specialist - knows the division and doing sweet FA at Liege
    3) are we back in for Coquelin in January?
    4) Wiggins back soon?

If Peeters can't turn this around then he has to be on borrowed time. Not saying he has to go but I simply can't see him getting to February if we keep failing to win. I've not looked at January fixtures but we've played every one now and we know there are no easy games.

We all know that to be a top six side you need three or four decent strikers but that isn't going to happen overnight.

Looking down, Brighton and Fulham are both turning their season around but delighted to see Millwall and Blackpool are not!

I can't see us going anywhere near a relegation battle because it can so easily be avoided and to be right down there again would be a complete fail.

On the flip side it simply isn't clear whether decent money will be spent in order to get the wheels back on quickly. As someone posted above M.Duchatelet has a choice - back him or sack him!

anything can happen in this years championship , so I will be very disappointed if we don't 'go for it' in January - the best form of defence is attack!
Add Watt and our depth upfront its starting to look better but its elsewhere that's the problem ... we may need another CB with Guci out!
Nowhere near a relegation battle imho but still only 9 points off of playoffs with almost EVERY team to play again!!
    COYR!!

Back him - give him some reinforcements in January.

Well that was a disappointment, and I had that feeling from the moment Ozzie or whatever his name is did himself in the warm up. Poor Gomez made loads of unforced errors. That's why you cannot rely on kids to cover your first XI at this level. First 20 we did at least snap into the tackle and shape some good moves. But once we went behind, the game was up. They hit the post twice whereas their keeper had little to do all night. Ref was the polar opposite of Boxing Day, and Tuc and Bikey should be docked wages for those cards. TBH, JBG, Buyens, and of course Solly, did well but that was never going to be enough.

As someone said, their bench was very strong, but they haven't splashed on transfers. If on the other hand our only ideas for a striking reinforcements are Watt and (for heavens sake) Andy Delort then you have to ask what exactly is meant by the phrase "scouting network". Probably that's not the reality, but the reality is we need reinforcements through the spine of the team, and hope Wiggins is back soon.

Finally, none of you will be surprised at this, but what is it with this country and alcohol? Outside the station there is a pub "designated for away fans". Good. But why is it CLOSED after the game? In the station, cannot even get water. Jeez, what a country.

Oh well, let's see what January actually brings us.

I'd hate to see how some of you would react if you had genuine bad news to deal with. Jesus Christ we lost to a team in the top 2

I don't think its just about tonight though. We are dropping down the league and even though it wasn't the worse performance its our worst result of the season. A win and it all changes but until it comes people are well within their rights to be concerned about our dissmal form in the last 2/3 months.

    Possession: 43-57
    Shots: 16-15
    (on target): 6-6
    Corners: 16-4

    Goals: 3-0

Ignore the result (& corners) yes easier said than done...but those stats are really impressive against a team in second place and now unbeaten in 19 games.
Yes. The first questions we must ask ourselves are:

    1. Are we conceding from corners too often or are we just conceding too many corners? By law of averages, it's inevitable we will concede more than the average amount of goals if conceding more than the average amount of corners.
    2. Are our strikers as clinical as they can be? The stats show we had as much of the game as the opposition tonight but still didn't put the ball in the net.

There are many others for the coaching staff to deal with but those are the ones that spring to mind immediately.
Don't be fooled by the stats! We were pretty dire tonight! Trust me, I was there!! And someone needs to take Tucadean to one side and advise him that if he wants to throw himself around like Bambi on ice he should at least back it up with a modicum of talent! Embarrassing!
