  • In some ways the start of the rot

Not because sacking Peeters was necessarily the wrong decision, but he wasn't actually part of Roland's "network". Once he went, we started going through the merry-go-round of his network managers, 3 in a season in a half, and relegation
  • Luzon was crouching before Bielsa - Genius
  • ...Peeters was a horrible little man who helped force out Michael Morrison who he thought couldn't play football ...
I don't remember this, what did he do?

Wasn’t he offered the chance to join a Romanian club on loan?

LIttle man? The bloke was a giant and an absolute ticking fruit loop time bomb. Couple of times I thought on the bench he was on the verge of completely losing it and beating up someone from the opposition. Brentford away rings a bell

would love to see what he’d make of Gilbey, Williams, Maddison & co dipping out of tackles!

Gonna have to go back and see what I said when he was sacked now!
Was it Brentford at home? He wanted to stick one on Uwe Rosler I think?
    You might be right
  • Peeters was in charge of a Charlton side that went to Leeds midweek and came away with three points (thanks to a sublime moment by Reza) and for that he will always be a little bit special.
    That was Riga wasnt it?
I stand corrected. Peeters didn’t become boss until 27th May. Easy mistake to make, all these bloody foreigners look the same to me.

In that case - bloody Peeters, Duchatelet stooge, what a c***!
  • LIttle man? The bloke was a giant
I thought everyone was a giant to you.
  • ....ah Lepoint....a real footballing lowpoint in our history, the fella genuinely looked like he'd won a competition to play a game for us.
    Bogle won the same competition

Christ you nearly gave me a f***ing heartattack til I realised this was an old thread - just saw "Guy Luzon coming in".

Six years ago today, classic times. Tweet below includes Katrien’s programme notes. It was also the transfer window in which we signed Tony Watt.
Hilarious she notes Etheridge and Dmitrovic as good signings that can make a difference to the team.....both are goalkeepers lol (both have gone on to have good careers mind)

Her "hit rate" is pretty accurate on the player front, as Etheridge and Dmitrovic are both excellent keepers, Watt has had a reasonable career back in Scotland while the 2 youngsters she mentioned Gomez and Grant are both in the PL!

It was Wigan at home. Rosler had moved on on from Brentford so I'm sure that's where the confusion has come from
  • Yes, Wigan at The Valley - near the start of the season, I think? We sat a few rows behind the dugout and watched it all kick-off.
  • Thread on the Peeters / Rosler shenanigans

Bob was pretty popular here at first

He played like he was a point guard in a basketball team
  • He was quite popular when we were winning, I remember when we beat Norwich 1 nil away Jackson with the winner, people were saying great tactics and how we were playing excellent rope-a-dope football. Reality was we were crap, Norwich battered us, they should have won but missed all their chances and Jacko scored a goal that Ruddy should have saved.

We got ahead of ourselves big time, I also remember people being worried Tony Watt and Vetokele being bought by bigger clubs. One extreme to the other on this forum haha

Peters is a big bloke. Riga is small and dapper. Go to specsavers !

I was trying to be funny. Obviously my style of humour is too sophisticated for you  ;)

That's no different to any manager though, including Bowyer.

And while we were lucky to win that game, you don't go unbeaten in the first 11 matches in the Championship just based on luck.

I like this response to him. Open up the previous quotes and someone also predicted both Luzon and Fraeye would take over as manager.

    Prague?
Well a week is a long time in the world of Roland Duchatelet, it seems. I wouldn't be surprised to see Luzon take over now. Or Fraeye (but I doubt both, in which case at least one rumour was bollocks). I would have no confidence whatsoever that either of them will do a better job than Peeters with this squad. But let's see. On reflection I'd have thought that if the rumour about Luzon was true, they'd announce it at the same time as Peeters departure. Why wait, if the replacement was already agreed a week ago?
For a number of reasons I don't agree. I would have every confidence Luzon would do better. Not only did he take Liege to the top of the Jupiler league and have a crack at qualifying for the Champions League but I've just looked up the following: Buyens played 18 times under Luzon last season. Ben Haim and Bulot each played 38 times. Yes that's right, these three played more for Luzon in a winning Liege team last season than they have for Peeters!
I get a feeling you'd be positive if "M.Duchâtelet" appointed Bungle from Rainbow as manager.
  • If BP is not at The Valley on Saturday neither will I be
And I stand by this today 🤣🤣

    A great thread to bump.
I enjoy reading these old threads confirming that what you thought was right.
I can see why Seriously Red gave up posting about football.
