Peeters was in charge of a Charlton side that went to Leeds midweek and came away with three points (thanks to a sublime moment by Reza) and for that he will always be a little bit special.
    That was Riga wasnt it?
I stand corrected. Peeters didn’t become boss until 27th May. Easy mistake to make, all these bloody foreigners look the same to me.

In that case - bloody Peeters, Duchatelet stooge, what a c***!
Peters is a big bloke. Riga is small and dapper. Go to specsavers !

I was trying to be funny. Obviously my style of humour is too sophisticated for you  ;)
No it isn't at all sophisticated. I was being far funnier than you .

@bertpalmer  can you do one of your polls to settle this matter please?
He just tried but admin removed it again 😉🤣

It’s a bloody conspiracy to keep a northerner from triumphing.
  • The last thing we need at the moment is to sack Bob. A few new quality additions and we will be looking at the play off's rarther than relegation and I feel that this is what Roland will give us. Dont understand the negativity of some on here towards the owner. He has invested money the club (not just the pitch) is in a much better state than n it was before he took over. The network system may not be ideal but I think his overiding aim is to try and run within FFP and you cannot blame him for that. Keep the faith fellow lifers and have a Happy New Year.
    Ohh dear! @superdulvertonred ;p

Interesting that when he resigned from Standard in October the official statement said that he had stepped down as head coach 'but would remain active in the network of Clubs'. I am fearing that this is actually true.
I just read a translated version of the WALL!foot article which stated he currently holds a advisor-type role in which he would visit the network clubs ... also from the same article it didn't sound like peeters was sacked (if true!) to be immediately replaced by Luzon ... just that Luzon was a candidate - something that I personally think is more plausible with the whole karel fraeye 'the bell rings for me!' quote!
So Roland would need a new advisor? image

I went to the 5 nil away at Watford, worst Charlton game Ive ever been to. Left when Watford scored their 4th.

I stayed to the bitter end. And it was bitter...
  • It was truly awful.

Someone (not me) needs to find the match and post match threads for that game, just for reminiscing purposes.

Lawrie Wilson didn't try a leg that day. For a player that was normally pretty committed, that was a shock. As non-triers go, it was up there with Darren Ambrose away to Forest in the Cup. Awful.
  • That 5-0 Loss is one of my favourite aways day. Everything about that day was just a little mental

Added player marks to the above now as well so you can properly reminisce @Macronate
  • Top work @paulie8290.

Found my comments on page 7 of the post match embarrassment thread:

was there and the impression I get is that we are a shambles from top to bottom.

there were level 1 basics not being followed out there today which made me look on with bemusement and sadness. 2nd balls not being fought for, central defenders not competing for headers, an inability to show for the ball etc.

am not one for getting hysterical after a loss but we are bang in trouble and if anyone thinks different then more fool them.

was talking to some Watford fans afterwards and they couldnt believe how easy we capitulated and how they expected a much tougher game.

It was pathetic and the players should have a look at the support today and have a look at themselves.

the only positive I took is that I'm glad I'm not a Watford supporter”.

    Nice to reminisce sometimes.
  • Yikes.

I'd forgotten that while Watt played a part, we made 3 key signings outside of the window in Roger Johnson, Chris Eagles and Alou Diarra

Also forgotten that used 4 keepers in the league that season, Henderson, Dmitrovic, Etheridge and Pope

LIttle man? The bloke was a giant and an absolute ticking fruit loop time bomb. Couple of times I thought on the bench he was on the verge of completely losing it and beating up someone from the opposition. Brentford away rings a bell

would love to see what he’d make of Gilbey, Williams, Maddison & co dipping out of tackles!

Gonna have to go back and see what I said when he was sacked now!
Was it Brentford at home? He wanted to stick one on Uwe Rosler I think?
Rosler complained that Peters entered his Technical Area at the end of a match , celebrating a win for us . Peter's remark to the press was   He should complain  about that , a man from a country  that spends most of it's time invading other people's countries !
I’ve heard tales of similar comments from people who worked in Belgium, although it was years ago.
  • Think we were the last team or second last team to lose in the league that year.

Other team may have been Forest. We lost lunchtime and they lost in the afternoon or vice versa.

Pretty vague on all the facts, but will be corrected soon enough.
  • The irony was 14/15 probably ended up being the best season we ever had under Duchatalet in terms of league standing.

Wasn't our first defeat away at Bournemouth when 17 year old KAG played up front on his own? Remember Callum Wilson scoring the only goal in the first minute.
  • The Norwich away game earlier in the season is one of my all time faves, Jacko nicking it for us right at the end. Loved looking at the stand next to us full of shellshocked naaaaarwich fans.
  • Peeter was ok til Igor’s achilles went

    It was comical.
Jacko ran the full lenth of the pitch and as he ran out of steam, almost falling over, shot from a long way out and the ball somehow found the net.
A young Gomez played at full back and had Nathan Redmond who was highly rated at the time in his pocket for most of the match.
K.G. came on late and was bullied by the Norwich centre back.
Peters claimed that an article in the Norwich evening news insulted Charltn which helped to galvanise the team.

    Karlan Ahearne Grant's debut.

This game was THE most one sided 1-0 defeat you are ever likely to see.

I was going to say that but thought I'd thrown in too many vague 'facts' already.
