I'm off to see Kent at Hampshire on Friday night in the T20 Blast game. I've never been to the Ageas Bowl so I'm looking forward to it. I have been looking for a Kent cricket shirt but they are like rocking horse shit in Bedfordshire.
I will be there as well Beds. Have you got somewhere to park sorted? Assuming you are driving?
I know this should be on the Essex thread but our nephew Jamie got his highest first class score of 34 after coming in as night watchman last night (previous best was 14) to add to his 5 wickets in the match.

He was a stubborn so and so as nightwatchman against Kent as I remember...
Talking about Kent and Essex, Seb played in the U12 match between the sides on Sunday. Out for four and one over of leg spin for nine is hardly much to write home about. His punishment for those failures? The gloves and the captaincy for this Sunday's game against Sussex!
In the game itself we scored 138 off our 40 overs and Essex got them for two wickets. That doesn't tell the full story though as one of their openers was dropped by one of our other keepers without scoring. And he went on to make 90 not out.

As they say - it's all a learning curve.
Pesky Essex !!!!
How much does the captain decide things at that level AA ? Will he have control of the bowling or is it a coach on the sidelines?

Sorry bum info. Memory failing me. We actually beat Essex by 3 runs in the first game (Sunday before last) and lost by 8 wickets to Middlesex this Sunday.
He's given guidelines with regards to bowling changes before the game and during drinks breaks. No coaching is allowed whatsoever during the game itself and the paid umpires are there to ensure that is the case so all field placings are down to the skipper.
The real difficulty at this level is that the vast majority of them bat and bowl. All bar one of the 14 "man" squad could bat in the top four and the same number bowl too so sharing things about is a real headache. Which is why Seb kept and batted at 10 (didn't get in) in the first game against Essex but batted at 4 and bowled just the one over in the Middlesex match.
I would like to thank all those whose contributions about Essex etc were not announcing the falls of wickets whilst I was logged out. I was fearing the worst. Perhaps I still should.

Never marry into an Essex/West Ham family I tell thee.

Forget the win because that's a given now. They should engineer it so they both get their hundreds (waits for abuse).

Denly has his hundred (107) and we need 14 to win. Northeast is on 82.
