To be fair even Chris Evans turned round and condemned it...

As people have said today; Jeremy Clarkson could be a prick but he'd NEVER do something like that

And further polluted the environs around St Paul's Cathedral.

Just wondering what the reaction would be if the Stig were to doughnut around Arlington Cemetery?

My two eldest daughters would be horrified to hear me say it but it is bad enough that Matt Le Blanc helped give us Friends let alone this!

Not good. Sounds like they are trying to keep the humorous oik element of the old show, but they have gone disastrously wrong with this.

This is properly wank now. They haven't really changed a bloody thing, they've just tried to shoehorn Evans into Clarkson's persona and all they've done is tweak superficial things like the track into a rallycross track and the studio has a balcony and a big screen now.

I quite like it. Matt LeBlanc comes across well.

I quite like it. Matt LeBlanc comes across well.

Disagree, another septic with a strange sense of 'humour' that doesnt go down well on British TV - and his interaction with Evans is a bit wooden.
    Not a good start tbh.

Tbf the programme has always had 3 pricks on it, so taking it down to two isn't the worst thing in the world.

The new #TopGear is like a Bangkok fake. Superficially looks to be the real deal but soon apparent it's a poor and cheap immitation. Most irritating thing on it is Chris Evans who needs to realise he does not need to shout all the time

I quite like it. Matt LeBlanc comes across well.

He looked like everything he said was scripted. I see that they have included Danny Baker as a writer, no doubt to give witty ad libs for Chris and Matt. It looked very laboured and formulaic, as the old Top Gear was at times, but they've added nothing. Poor.

Given that Evans and LeBlanc hate each other, wooden intrraction isn't that surprising!

Early days though - maybe they might get that 'chemistry' once they've settled down and become a bit more relaxed - but not a good start .
My major problem was not really with Evans, but with Le Blanc - just dont see what a Septic is doing on a typically British show - his humour just doesnt make me laugh , and i hope it doesnt have that US v UK theme running through the show - thats just gonna get very tiring. Cant see it being a success in its current format-especially once Clarkson and the others come back with their own show on whatever they are coming back on.

Thought it was OK, previous version of Top Gear had peaks but lots of duds too. Le Blanc is OK and as much of a car guy as Evans.

Everyone has been waiting to slate this show. People need to take it for what it is - a light hearted entertainment show.

People would probably knock one out to Clarkson even if their first episode features him smearing himself in chocolate while Hammond licks it off

It always appears scripted because it is. Once the cast settle and develop their characters im sure it will get better.

Give it half a dozen episodes before forming a judgement

I thought it was ok but wasn't great. Evans was trying too hard to be Clarkson and for me just didn't work.

I actually liked LeBlanc and thought he was probably the one highlight of the show.

As Swisdom says it'll take a while for them to gel together and may get better but for me it'll take a lot to topple previous series.

Danny Baker has been writing for Evans for years it should not be a surprise.

I know he has, I was thinking along the lines that Clarkson et al, didn't need script writers previously, which is why it appeared so stilted.

I went to the filming of a Top Gear show many years ago, there is no way that it wasn't scripted. The only question was did the trio write their own stuff or was it someone else who did it for them.

It was nearly identical to how the show was before, just with different presenters. Personally thought it was growing stale as a format for a while before Clarkson and crew departed. Would have liked to see some new ideas.

Hopefully will get better as it goes on.

Agree completely, was hoping they'd do something new to freshen it up.

And to be clear, putting some off road sections in the star in a car feature does not qualify as 'doing something new to freshen it up'.

Anything with Chris Evans presenting it has me reaching for the off button. A bit like Johnny Vaughan and Chris Moyles how he continues to carve out a career is one of lifes mysteries
