  • First one was good, thought last nights was poor. Far too slapstick instead of the clever humour that used to be a major part of the sho.

I enjoy the new version, but it is basically a rehash of Clarkson, Hammond and May.
Which is what makes TG so good. Bit irritating that the Beeb forced amazon to change their format as it was too similar...

Clarkson, Hammond and May was all scripted and sometimes it crossed the line where it was too unbelievable but mostly it was successful. I haven't seen yesterday's yet but I think Mcguiness could be the weakness - Flintoff plays the laddish nutter well. I would think Robbie Savage would have fitted in well instead of McGuiness. He can do stupid things and they are believable!
  • And at least you can understand what Savage says.

    McGuiness is underwhelming.

    and very SHOUTY.
  • Flintoff's a nice enough chap, genuinely not very bright, nor overblessed with wit or personality, struggles to read a cue card.  McGuinness has enough personality  for all 3 of them, sadly he is one of history's most irritating loudmouthed oafs yet born.  Relentless shouting and unironic egotism are excrutiating, he reads cue cards competently.
Poor little Chris Harris is visibly wilting under the dead weights of the chumps with which he has been saddled.  Sisyphus had it easy by comparison.
TG hasn't so much taken a wrong turn as done a Thelma & Louise.

  • I can't get into the new version of top gear if the presenters don't go for the jeans / Blazer look
