Set up a thread separate, people want to discuss/argue, please, do it there.
The point (as I see it); the other thread wasn't a debate thread, but to discuss the results/outcome of a completely legal sport, so stifling it with this discussion was gonna get messy and ruin that thread.
This thread is to discuss the other view of the same sport, which is obviously gonna start a bit of debate.
We can't just start a new thread when we don't agree with a point on another.
Can I just say that the quality of this post clearly demonstrates mod potential?
ibborg is a mod. A bit condescending to say he only has "potential"
As a racehorse owner and helping with riding for the disabled for over 10 years and knowing exactly what goes on with both and how much help is provided by horse racing and how much help and joy it brings to the disabled it really does disgust me how anna kissed can just keep sticking to the its all about money point.Plus the spelling of "countryside" by them in an earlier post sums them up perfectly! As mentioned before its a debate thats never going to be won but then is it all about winning, surely its about TRUE facts no hype and respect. If its really all about money has anna says please explain why im in it for the money when i have invested 20 grand plus into horse racing, riding for the disabled and a well known horse charity Moorecroft (look them up) with no return and may i state i dont want or never expected any return. Its called for the love of it thats why i do it and spend so much of time involved.

This last week 9 horses died at National Hunt "entertainments", 7 at Cheltenham. Clearly, most people on this thread don't give a toss.
Killer Kish makes a good point that riding for the disabled does bring help and joy to the disabled, and that is to be supported. Until such time as they are asked to jump Beechers.

So you are saying that they should not be allowed to be jump racing jockeys? What a horrible attitude to take towards disabled people. It's views like that which tarnish the thread.

I've heard AFKA will be giving him a runout in the 1st team in the next few weeks, before moving him on to the *homesdale end* in the summer for an undisclosed fee of course.

Riding for the Disabled? Are you using this to justify horse racing? Riding for the Disabled is a meritorious organisation. My family was involved in it for several years and I have spoken in favour of it. The importance of animals in the remedy of human physical and mental disability is well-known and valid. But what has this to do with horse racing? I've written, prior to this post, that I like to see youngsters riding horses around and about the area in which I live. These horses, well-cared for and healthy, may graze, trot, and run of their own accord. The thoroughbred race horse, however, is a manipulated breed, a construct of man's interference and greed. Breeding is a lucrative industry; owner, trainer and jockey stand to gain from those who place bets on the animal before it is made to race. Those who 'fancy a flutter' are feeding this inequitable industry. I invite you to read this thread from the start. My point was - and remains - to provide an alternative view to orthodoxy. I seek to report the factual, undeniable deaths of innocent horses that were made to run and jump when the height of the fences and the distance between them was difficult and troubling. The horses, subservient and sometimes anxious, were coerced by their human 'master'. Seven horses died at the Cheltenham Festival last week. Fifty-three have been killed at the Cheltenham Festival since the year 2000. Those who support and fund this 'sport' come up with excuses that are increasingly bizarre and desperate. Given time, horse racing will be opposed by a greater number and shall - alongside bear-baiting and putting a child up a chimney - be resigned to the history books.

Ex racehorses and funds from horse racing help and in some cases keep riding for the disabled centres going thats all i was saying. So if your far fetched dream of horse racing was to stop then these centres would be affected and so many people would lose out.Thats without getting to the financial loses to the goverment which horse racing brings which means horse racing will never ever cease to exit.
For such an emotive subject, this thread has been pretty respectful actually. Consider we have an animal rights champion league 1, and a race horse owner. And I've learned from both
Fixed it. Thank me later.
Wow - how sensitive and self centered are we that this comment merits a flag?
