I'm guessing there will be 3 options on the in out referendum - in, out and "renegotiate". The tories know that leaving the EU will be bad news, this referendum will be to keep their backbenchers quiet, but i think the majority will vote for renegotiate. That or no would be my vote.

Don't believe they could have such a fudge option.

"Renegotiate" would require another vote on what had been regenotiated and that would mean dragging out the process for even longer. It will be a yes or no IMHO and liblabcon and the press plus big business will all campaign to stay in.

Latest polls (yes I know) say it is neck and neck on staying in or leaving.
    100% this.

What about a Charlton life Poll ? The war needs starting again ;0)

    I vote in
In. Of course. In almost any conceivable circumstance.

    I vote out.

I get the feeling that a lot of people feel very deflated with Farage's resignation and I understand that. He's the only bloke who will talk about the EU, immigration and grammar schools whilst the other parties devote themselves to non-issues such as the NHS which we know is just a political weapon.

I do hope he comes back and I also hope he understands what an incredible achievement getting almost 1 in 9 people to vote UKIP is.

The NHS is a non issue.

    Give me strength.

Do you seriously think that having Labour or the Torys in charge really changes much as far as the NHS is concerned?

To me, it's probably one of the only places where they do differ.

No chance of that. Too much risk in splitting the in vote.

It'll be a simple yes/no vote, with the polls at the moment showing that most are in favour of in.

Damn! Was so hoping that the 3rd option was going to be "shake it all about", but that's what "renegotiate" is anyway I suppose.

Well...guess we are about to find out what happens to the NHS under the Tories.

Personally I think we are staring down on the cliff edge from which they'll be no coming back.

leaving the EU would be like moving your shop out of bluewater to a little road round the corner from the big car park. Madness.

That's a brilliant quote, sums it up perfectly !

Yet you seem quite happy that Cameron is happy to risk that very thing.

i'm pretty certain that the country would choose to stay in the EU, as does cameron. He's doing it to keep his backbenchers happy.

Bring on the referendum. If we vote in then the xenophobes can zip it. If we vote out there will be open revolt

And also try to dilute the UKIP effect, though on vote wise that didn't seem to carry through.

Disappointment for me as someone who would definitely vote to stay in (would have answered differently five years ago) is that Europe is going to be massively on the agenda for the next two years when there are so many more important areas of concentration.

Well I for one have enjoyed the verbal jousting ( can you even do that online?) between Fiish ShootersHill et al even when some of the brickbats and responses have been let's say robust. Have learnt a lot on this thread mainly due to both sides producing actual statistics and linking to articles to back up their claims and counterclaims. On such an emotive subject once the results were in emotions were gonna be running high but I say bring on the GENERAL ELECTION 2020 thread.

It's almost as if someone wants to keep us looking the wrong way whilst he carry a out his dastardly plan...

Don't get me wrong I'm not bowing out of the thread, I'm just refusing to engage with the 4 or 5 trolls whose only contribution so far to this thread is finding ways of comparing me to a phallus.

That said this thread is an election thread, the election is over so apart from Dave establishing a Government there's little else to discuss.
