Any chance we could stop the bickering now?
I'm pretty sure none of us are happy about the attack and none of us agree with the attacker. I'm also pretty sure we would all, if asked whether we condemn those actions, would say yes. As @ken_shabby says, one would assume that's taken as read.
We, as a group of normal people, are obviously going to disagree on the finer details of politics and whatnot, but point scoring serves no positive purpose here and I'm sure most lifers would think no less of you if you just left it alone now.

But it's what Katie Hopkins would have wanted. :disappointed:

    Have a resigned lol.

Quite an interesting and nuanced piece by KH in today's Mail - worth a read.

I've never liked Katie Hopkins from back when she was a competitor on The Apprentice, when I used to watch it.

I don't agree with much that she says, although she does, sometimes, say what a lot of people are thinking - even if they don't admit it.

Sadly when you make a living, especially a relatively good one, by shocking people you need to keep shocking people. In the end you have to get closer and closer to the line of what is acceptable. I don't mean popular, she passed that line a long time ago but to keep shocking she had to become more and more of a parody.

I'm not sure that she believes everything that she spouts but she, almost certainly, does like the money and/or attention that comes with it.

In the end it is up to the public and the organisations that pay her, to generate them PR, to decide when she has gone too far and then she will lose the 'popularity' and be removed from the public eye.

Sadly, however, there will always be someone that thinks that bad PR is better than no PR at all and she may turn up working for them in the end.

Ironically having a thread like this and CL members arguing about her is generating more PR and is probably, exactly, what she wants.

At the end of the day she's a hate preacher . No better than the Muslim clerics that preach hate in mosques except she's given a bigger audience by being allowed to broadcast on radio and write in the national press.
The woman is disgusting and I hope Karma deals her a shitty hand for the rest of her miserable life.

I guess that's why choudary is behind bars and Hopkins, as offensive as she may be , is not.

There is no reason for a white history month or week because if you look at the history output of the BBC it is 90% about white Europeans and why not.

    Whoosh?

I totally agree that she can't possibly believe all the spite and bile she comes up with. She's not stupid. And that is the bigger problem. It's clear that she spouts nonsense and hate not because it is the core of her beliefs but that that it is precisely engineered to cause issues. No-one in their right mind would agree with everything she comes up with; and, in no way could she be described as stupid. So it's clear that everything she does is coldly calculate to deliver her as much attention as possible.

That, to anyone who saw her denouement on The Apprentice, was completely clear from the first time she hit "headlines".

@shine166 she retracted the tweet and it was noted she meant final solution for Islamic terror, not Muslims as whole, but a bit of selective listening never hurt anyway I guess..

And that's your opinion if you feel that way mate however some actually see her as an alternative view that doesn't pander to PC nonsense. But each to their own I guess.

Do you see why the phrase "final solution" might be seen as excessively inappropriate?
You are aware that someone had just killed an 8 year old child and other minors and innocents in the name of Islam right? I'd imagine it was a tweet not thought through and sent in anger, mistakes are allowed to happen
You see the problem is that a journalist - particularly one with a large following - needs to have higher standards. Publishing comments that are "not thought through" might be acceptable by the likes of you and me. But, an influential media figure must be held accountable.

It's not the first time that she's tweeted something that's got her into trouble. Once might be forgivable. Repeating it falls well below what should be acceptable for a professional journalist. Even a horrible one like her.
Can't argue with that. For what it's worth, I'm not familiar with the reference, still am not, was just putting my two pennies worth in from a standard point of view i.e. Human reaction to something like that happening.
    Good post.

Do you mean you didn't know what phrase she used; or you weren't familiar with what it meant?

    It's obvious, no?
As offensive as she may be, she's not in jail.
She hasn't done anything yet to warrant time in the slammer.

...as far as we're aware. Although let's see what the police say.

    I couldn’t care less about that woman but that piece is full of rubbish. Amongst others;

“Located in a quiet suburb of leafy Exeter, the former columnist's home had provided a retreat from her hectic showbiz commitments in nearby London.”

    And a mansion no less.

Her house looks shit, there's not even a barbers in it.

I really hate her but there’s a piece of me that thinks she would be an absolute worldie of a bunk up.

That is the wrongest thing I have ever seen.

I’ve got a pretty sick imagination but the thought of being up close and personal, her all horny and gagging for me made me bring a bit of sick up. I’d rather go gay.

Nah @i_b_b_o_r_g I’d sooner pick Sadiq Khan. I think i’d prefer something a bit more exotic and less pasty.

She also looks like she could do with a bit of rough to be honest.

I’m more inclined to believe she would be to judge mental and that would detract from any.

I would gladly go three rounds in a boxing ring with her though
