The impression given in the interview is that she had to shake up a static club staff - in reality the club had been turned upside down over the previous 18 months as has been widely reported, with virtually all its senior staff leaving before she arrived. There had previously been a huge shake out when the club went down to League One in 2009.

Significant managers who have left under Meire were often TJ/MS era recruits, including Prothero, Bradshaw and Kensell, as well as some long-serving and well-regarded people who were never in positions of authority. The idea she has shaken up an atrophied administration is a long way from the truth - it would be more accurate to say that it had been destabilised and undermined by the previous lot and she has had to try to deal with that.

Fortunately the staff lovingly supported me.

    Then she sacked 10.
Can someone do a proper translate?

I can sense some negativity coming to this thread soon.

To be honest, the sad / concerning thing is i think that many just don't really care anymore.

Good, it's not an important issue bearing in mind its just a game of football

Well that's lifted me out of my bored malaise and back to being Mr Furious of Lewisham.

The catering's always been pretty crap, it's now no better, and possibly worse if you use the lounges and bars.

The ticket office has always done a superb job, despite (I believe) a number of redundancies following relegation from the Prem. It's only since Little Miss Know-all turned up and started "improving" things that it's become a bit of a shambles.

Her attitude towards long term supporters and staff is astonishing - such arrogance, she really seems to think that she can't learn anything useful from anyone who was involved in the club before she arrived.

"Most of the letters I get are complaints." Surely, SURELY that tells you something, no???

"This summer, Roland has invested millions of euros in seven new players....." and already the season has started to disintegrate. Well done.

If you're reading this Katrien, here's some more advice for you to ignore. Have a read through this if you can find the time - http://www.pathwaytohappiness.com/self-awareness.htm

It's an awful article, and terrible translation. No mention of JBG's winning goal either!

    "I negotiated myself all transfers."

So we had someone with absolutely no experience in football negotiating all of our transfers, in and out? That explains a lot.

I don't think she picked the players

I think @RedPanda means in terms of players we've let go and targets we've missed out on.

What more so came to mind was the people we let go so easily and cheaply. So one of her very first tasks would have been to manage the Yann renewal/transfer. I don't think anyone can say that went well (except Bournemouth).

Then if money is so tight, why sell Michael Morrison for peanuts? Fair enough let him go if he's unfancied but an established, 26 year old in this division should earn a few hundred thousand.

So yes RR, that is more so what I'm getting at. Agents are notorious scum bags and chancers - RD chucked someone (cheap) in at the deep end, with no experience at all, and we're still paying for it.

Agreed. But she will have negotiated the transfer fees - £700k for Polish Pete and £2.4m for Igor amongst others.

    It all makes sense now!
He bought us because he wants to get in Katriens Knickers!

@carly_burn mate, bit beyond the pale. Good arguments are being made, but that derails from them and the full extent of the excrement that we're in. Excrement, I might add, that no rag could erase by way of introduction!

    £3.5m for Gomez maybe too.

Crude I know and I apologise for that, but there is some seriousness to my rant.

A man that seemingly has no interest in our club. He never talks about us,watches us. Doesn't seem to care if we win or lose. Go up,go down,go home....he really doesn't care.

Got me thinking that if the pretty little thing hadn't wandered into his office, purring that she'd love to run a football club one day,he'd have nothing to do with us at all!

Of course, madness I hear you cry. But why else is he here?

spent € 16 million in new facilities for academy young?????

  • The gist of the mildly facetious and weird article is how the young Belgian whiz kid is making a clean sweep through the old fuddy duddies both in the stands and back office at the decrepit old working class British club (no more free teas and coffees for you fans, ground used to hold 90,000, that's where they scatter the ashes, etc).

Therefore, there's a certain irony in the fact that the interview apparently took place at a game on 22 August but the article was only published on 28 September. They must have slow broadband in Belgium.

Yet again it seems that KM will speak to anyone other than our own official site. Why tell all this to a Belgian journo but not to your own media team?

Don't get the tea and coffee thing? The catering is outsourced. Who got free tea and coffee other than the board room and how much has that saved/generated.

Kensell, Bradshaw and Prothero were no loss but still strange for a CEO slag off ex-employees in public.

It also has invested 2.7 million euros in our stadium and spent € 16 million in new facilities for academy young. He starts to put pressure on me in terms of return on investment (laughs). Of course I'm aware of. I fear that one day something does not go as planned and I'll be fired. But as I think Charlton can progress, I'll stay. I'm really happy here. 2.7m Euros is £1.99m

    16m Euros is £11.89m

That is interesting info. Will we see the same numbers in the Fulham programme.

I'm hoping that there is a lot lost in translation, but it is a very naive interview by KM. She shows her inexperience outside of a legal office with her comment about complaints. There are very few businesses, however good at customer facing that do not have more complaints than praise from the public, that's what people do. As for slagging off older fans, just shows contempt. if that is her attitude then keep shut, we are light on fans as it is.
  • Basically she does not care about anything which happened at this club until the takeover of RD.

I can understand the logic of not looking back at the past and only caring about the future BUT......

A large percent of fans do not trust your non existent plan for the future.

Way to early to claim success over anything yet, attendance is going down and losses are going up.

Oh but we have a pitch side sofa - it seems the previous regime was intent on asset stripping us financially. This lot are asset stripping our identity.

Very disappointing interview and, whilst I've supported her approach at times in the past, this does not put her in a good light.

Also, as others have mentioned, why does she insist in carrying out the majority of her 'chats' outside the club media?

Smacks too much of external self-publicity (keeping herself in the ring for a future job elsewhere) / personal PR (look at what I have done) which is unfortunate.

Communication with the fans KM, that should be your priority.

Success with Charlton will place you very highly in the market. Static movement / no promotion is not a success, no matter how much you sell the tea/coffee story.
  • Unconvincing middle manager in 'talks deluded bollocks' shocker

Should probably try the semiconductor business instead
