  • I wonder whether this sets a dangerous precedent for the remaining races. Deep down Max will know 100% he has got away with one. Would not be at all surprised if he does it again and the outcome is both drivers retired.
Or it will be interesting if Hamilton tries it this weekend.
  • Max off to the stewards for not slowing down for double yellows in Q3! Slam dunk pen if the evidence is there.

Isnt that usually a couple of points on the licence rather than a grid penalty?

He should be made to drive a Morris Minor in the race as a punishment

Don't think so? For a single maybe? Seb had five place grid pen at Bahrain for ignoring double yellows I believe.
  • Max is allowed to break the rules though!

Sainz has also been called to the Stewards over ignoring single yellow flags.

Must be a Red Bull thing they forget to teach at their Academy

Oops Bottas also called now to the Stewards for the same reason tomorrow
  • I actually thought Bottas slowed as I was giving him shit for it!
  • Ignoring double yellows is a slam dunk, unless there's other circumstances but it should be a penalty

  • No excuses here - Max doesn’t get a penalty (after last week as well) then Masi is on the payroll frankly.
  • Ignoring Yellows is usually the most slam dunk 5 place grid drop you can get.
  • I think Hamilton got a three place one for the same offence last season. Mind you, Vettel got a five place penalty for it this season! Masi probably is desperately looking for a way out.
  • Why does it take stewards this long to make a decision

Why does it take stewards this long to make a decision
I must admit, I found it strange that they called the drivers for a meeting after a three hour delay and that the meeting was to be the following day. I suspect it might be a case that it’s unclear whether the drivers saw the flags, so there may not be penalties.
The powers that be will be very aware that there’s a perception of there being one rule for Verstappen, another rule for everyone else, so they need to be careful.
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I might suggest that the fact Bottas and Sainz were also summoned might be so they can clear all three to try to stop people saying Verstappen gets away with stuff others don’t.
    😉

I believe the benchmark is 3 places for ignoring single yellows (Sainz and Bottas) while it’s 5 places for ignoring double yellows (Verstappen).
    Hence the penalties you mention.

Agreed - but only if it can be proved. I suspect it might be borderline.

I haven’t seen any video evidence yet, I don’t know if anyone else here has?
  • Significant grid penalties incoming according to Brundle.
  • Bottas 3 place

  • Alonso talking a lot of sense there:
”Why didn’t they make a decision at 6pm yesterday?”
    Absolutely right.
  • Why is David Beckham being treated on the grid like he’s royalty?
  • Why is David Beckham being treated on the grid like he’s royalty?
Hasn't he sold himself out to be a Qatar ambassador for the world cup?
  • Why is David Beckham being treated on the grid like he’s royalty?
Qatar’s government have paid him to be their royalty.
  • No different to any other celebrity who walks the grid

If Hamilton wins today, and Verstappen gets fifth, then Max leads the WDC by one point
