F2 has unfortunately ended up being a damp squib. Hadjar stalled off the line and has gifted the title to Bortoleto.
I unfortunately had the result spoiled elsewhere as wasnt able to watch it live, so was hoping to see it a bit later - I did actually predict to myself whilst I was out, that Hadjar would stall on the grid and turn it into a nothing event.
Hopefully this is the wake up call for the Series though, as you cant have Championships decided like that, and is hopefully making F2 look bad as a result.
Is the race worth watching as an event regardless?
Or was it typical Abu Dhabi?
Not really. Only good bit was Alex Jacques's farewell.
Watching the race back now and absolutely loved Piastri not taking any of Max's ridiculous T1 antics on the radio. Hopefully that's the precedent for next season from the stewards too.
I suspect we are going to have real problems with Max next season if the Red Bull is not at the top of the charts. Great driver but also a cheating, petulant cry baby.
Saw a stat doing the rounds recently that the points difference between Perez and Verstappen is more than the points difference between the drivers of each of the other teams put together.
Liam Lawson confirmed at Red Bull for 2025... Stupid move, agree that its going to be another Albon / Gasly
I do think they're just dragging their feet until Lindblad is ready for that seat though, he'll be in VCARB for 2026
I give it until Silverstone before there's rumours about Lindblad. Can't see Yuki being there in 2026 anyway and I've got doubts about Hadjars maturity.
Lawson will probably spend most the year scrapping with Kimi.
Makes the decision not to bring Sainz back into Red Bull Racing all the more baffling. I'm not sure Lawson will be much of an upgrade on Perez. Definitely don't see what he has done to deserve leap frogging Tsunoda in the pecking order, but Tsonda is also probably not fast enough to deserve a seat at a top 4 team like RB ether.
Hadjar confirmed @ Racing Bulls for 2025, first time since 2010 that there will be six rookies on the Grid.
Quite pleased for him, if he continues to show the maturity over the radio that we saw in Qatar and Abu Dhabi for the end of the F2 season - The Hadjar as well that started the F3 season in 2022, looked destined for F1 as well, especially with how well he did in the wet @ Austria that year.
Dont think I've ever seen someone look so good, and then from the second half of 2022 > this season, look so shite - As he basically came from no where to be a Championship contender

And that's only because the grid expanded by 6 cars that season right?

So no one can agree who's announcing Perez leaving first so neither side is announcing it

Hadjar and Yuki together will be fiery. Will provide some very entertaining team radio between the pair of them.
If Red Bull were serious about the constructors they should sign Bottas for a year

Lawson is a bit of a hothead and isn't fast enough anyway
This is a very clever move. If Antonelli doesn't pan out for whatever reason you've got a very solid reserve who knows the team inside out.
