rformula1 - the new generation of drivers
Of those pairings, McLaren have got to be favourites for at least the constructors, unless Lewis gets off to an absolute flyer in the Ferrari.

Martin Bundle has been made an OBE in the New Years Honours list. Am surprised every year that Adrian Newey isn't a Sir yet.....

    https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/franco-colapinto-f1-2025-role-jack-doohan/

Alpine in an attempt to somehow be even more dysfunctional than ESI at running a sports team appear to have agreed some kind of deal with Franco Colapinto. There's rumours doing the rounds they've got an out on Doohan after 5 races or that his contract might even be Race to Race.

Franco wouldn't be going to Alpine to just stand in the garage for a year with Ollie Oakes so I don't know where this leaves things.

Also makes the Alpine academy absolutely pointless.

Spa deal also announced, going to be rotating in the calendar though. Can't say I'm a fan but would be cool to see some different tracks used

Yes this will be good - and a good idea - shame its Spa though as one of the most exciting circuits and loved by the drivers...

BBC mentioned Istanbul Park as a potential option to bring into the rotation. Zandvoort goes after 2026 and I'd be surprised if they kept Imola.

There's a handful of storied old tracks that probably should have some kind of protected status that guarantees they'll be on the calendar every year - Spa would be one, Monza, Silverstone, Monaco (much as I loathe it), Interlagos, Suzuka, maybe Montreal.

As others have said, shame its the legendary tracks that are going to be rotated and not the more shite recent ones like Miami, or Qatar

    Even Madrid replacing Barcelona!!

Not looking forward to that Madrid circuit. Would be like if they had the space to build a track around the NEC or something.

You mean like the Formula E circuit they actually use at the Excel Arena? ;)

Madrid seems the worst street track idea ever suggested though, what with it basically being in a trading estate

On a separate note, not surprised by your post RE: Jack Doohan, it just needs Mick Schumacher rumours to be perfect now

Think they're on the last year of Excel being viable because of all the building work. Not sure where they'll go next because they talked about Silverstone but want to stay city ish.

Mick Schumacher F1 rumours are so boring now.

Wonder if Williams have a recall Clause... they've already got Sainz who has the option to move to a big team if one comes calling.

Be made to look a bit silly if they lose Sainz for 2026, and cant get Colapinto back - Dont see Browning or O'Sullivan in F1 any time soon

Very classy from Williams. I assume Luke Browning steps up as their new reserve. I do wonder if they'll be in the race for Freddie Slater as the rest of their Academy isn't great.

Do feel a bit for Doohan, he's not got a chance

He'll be a reserve driver for all of about 5 races

Not even surprised with Briatore running the show. Barring an absolute miracle start from Doohan , Colapinto will be in for Miami.

Restructuring at Aston. Andy Cowell (ex head of Mercedes engine dept) becomes CEO and TP, Mike Krack moves to head of Trackside Engineering.

  • Great start for Lindblad out in New Zealand, with him taking part in FROC

You can really see the skill difference between him and the rest of the field, even with Zagazeta who equally has Formula 3 experience - Its a matter of when Arvid makes it to F1 now, not "If"

Preparing for Yuki to barely run FP1 once Arvid has a SL confirmed. Would expect something similar to what Ferrari/Haas did with Bearman

They might as well... They're clearly not interested in Yuki anymore - Else they'd have given him the Red Bull seat for the season, and could have replaced him with Lawson in 2026 if necessary.

Even seems harsh they're stringing Yuki along, as didnt they stop him from potentially moving on in 2025?

General motors to set up new company to build an F1 engine.  It will power the Cadillac btranded team due to enter in 2026 although they'll initially use a Ferrari engine until the GM engine is ready (no date yet).  Think its good to see another team on the grid especially one that builds the car and the power unit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/c0lgl5302z5o

Drugovich confirmed for another year of standing in the Aston garage. No idea why he's not gone to Sportscars or Indy yet.

Would probably make more from a successful WEC / IndyCar career... He's just stubborn and praying that Lance Stroll gets tired of his hobby

He's too worried as well that if he goes off to another series, he'll either flop, or he'll disappear from the minds of TP's

Slater and Lindblad have taken the absolute piss in Formula Regional this weekend!!

Both took part in three races, podiums in five of the six in total ... both got two wins, future of British Motorsport is definitely safe with these two

I wonder how long until Freddie signs with an academy. He'll have the pick of all of them. And that's not a very weak Formula Regional Middle East field he's won against either.

Just been announced Freddie is doing select rounds of GB3 too

I wonder if Freddie will sign for the F1 team that basically promises him a seat the moment everyone deems him to be ready.

Bit like what Red Bull did with Verstappen

Thanks for posting that about Slater doing select GB3, I really want to get to Brands Hatch for that round in August... It was a fun Championship to watch last year, and there are some decent names already involved this coming season - So be even better if he's there that particular weekend; Doesnt look like Brands clashes with a FRECA weekend either.
