One thing about Hamilton is that this race has demonstrated how good he is. The usual critical complaints about his car being so much better than the rest simply wasn’t true today - the track and the weather was a great leveller- but he’s still ended up destroying everyone else. The difference was he did a lot of the hard work from the midfield today. Driving 50 laps on one set of inters too. Astounding talent.

Yup... Was just about to say similar
His last two wins have shown how good he is tactically, and that's all whilst driving at 200mph!!
Total and utter sporting genius from Sir Lewis Hamilton. If he doesn’t get that knighthood in the new year then I’m gonna drop a turd on the doorstep of Buck House.
Some cars were set up for the wet (see qualy). Some for the dry. Nobody had the perfect car (see Bottas),
Also, the viewers vote for driver of the day annoys me a bit.
Hamilton never gets the votes, probably because of the “he’s got the best car” attitude, but today he deserved it.
Admittedly, Vettel and Leclerc drove brilliantly too, but Hamilton surely ought to get the credit today?
Max melted again under pressure. Almost every other driver made balls ups on track or in the head.
He is so stupendously good. I grew up as a mixed race lad in the karting paddock in the 90s and it was horrendous for me. He has inspired anyone by not only getting through it but also being the best.I just don’t get all this ridiculous hate he gets.
He should be held up as a UK sporting hero for a generation
As someone who’s as much a fan of F1 as football, this is very, very special for me.
After watching Hunt win in ‘76 it was a long wait to see another Brit WC when Mansell won in ‘92.
Never, ever thought I’d see another Brit be this successful, it’s unbelievable.
Can’t wait for Silverstone next year.
I’ve always found it amazing that, despite Britain having more World Champions than any other country, no British driver had successfully defended his title until Lewis Hamilton in 2015. He’s now done it 4 times.
He is not immediately likeable, or at least comes across in the media that way.
There is no denying that he is a champion and one of our greatest sportsmen ever.
He needs the recognition of a knighthood.
I can’t argue that lots seem to say that but I just don’t get it. He is articulate, polite, well spoken, and good. He is respectful of his opposition and always thanks his team and those that help him.
In my opinion he is one of the most likeable sportsmen we have but that’s the beauty of opinion I guess.
I can’t work out why he’s not liked either , has he been flash or something that people thrive off through jealousy ... no idea why he’s isn’t heralded for the legend that he is
That's got to be up there with Lewis's best wins , an absolutely sensational drive and fitting that it clinched the title.
Did you see the condition of his tyres at the end......they were completely bald.......how he managed to get so far away from the rest of the pack and stay there was outstanding, have to say this was his best performance of the season and comfortably goes into his top 10 of all time.
Get in Lewis!! Deserves any accolades that may come his way. Had a lump in my throat when he was sat in the car at the finish. I do hope he gets a knighthood, imo he's up there with the very best of British sports people.

For me he's part of the Celebrity do as I say, rather than do as I do culture
As a Sportsman he's one of the very best and heavily respect him for what he can do behind the wheel of fairly fast vehicle
Looked after his tyres yes but didnt even really challenge anyone in the race... Really should have won with Stroll screwing up
To be fair, that is pretty much what Hamilton did. Looked after his tyres, kept his car pointing in the right direction and stayed patient. Something hardly anyone else in the field managed to do.
Not talking down Hamilton, he had a fantastic race, but if we’re all going to wax lyrical about what he did in a superior car (once everything was warmed up) then it’s more than a bit harsh to dismiss Perez as not doing much.
Perez showed his best qualities today and why Red Bull would be mad not to sign him up instead of Albon. Many were losing their heads and burning through their tyres but he stayed calm and smooth, right down to Leclerc’s last lap lunge, and was able to capitalize on the chaos around him.
That’s exactly what Red Bull need. Verstappen might possibly be the fastest driver on the grid at the moment, but he still has a hot headed mistake in his locker and they need someone consistent who will be there or there abouts if Verstappen messes up. Albon had a chance to show he can be that person today but instead made his own mistakes again and ended up behind Verstappen who had a stinker of a race. Red Bull could, maybe should have had a one-two.
Hamilton showed why he’s won so many titles. Yes the car helps him immensely, but he didn’t have the best car today. What he had was a calm mentality, prodigious talent, and supreme consistency. He’s the complete package, but it’s perhaps that last one that has really set him apart from the field.
Feel for Lance Stroll, looked to me like he somehow got a bad set of tyres. The win always looked unlikely if the rain held off and the track slowly dried, but the rate he went backwards, having driven very well in wetter conditions at the start, albeit he made a few bad decisions with overtakes, it looked like more than just his driving ability that slowed him down.

Deserves all the plaudits that come his way though, no doubts there.
