Three points, clean sheet and the skipper scores the winner... and does 90 minutes! Couple of beers (at least!) tonight! Only downside is all the talk about young Lookman being given the once over by the scouts. Let's hope we see more of him than we did with Gomez but with the strategic outlook of the current owner I wouldn't be surprised if he's the next one to pack his boots and stroll off into the limelight - or more likely to warm the bench of some Premier club.
Unfair to single out our current owners. Clubs in our position always end up losing promising youngsters, if they choose to leave then there is very little you can do about it.
Never dared hope, but it sounded like we started quite ok, and never looked back. So something has changed.
I hate the radio commentaries when we are protecting a one goal lead, there's 5' to go, plus injury time, when 4' always seems to be extended to 6' so that the officials can stamp their mark. But the feeling when the final whistle blows and we've done it is fantastic.

I think it was more the general flurry of scouts were there and he would have caught the eye, rather than they were there to give him the once over.
I particularly like when Henderson has a word with KHD after the Birmingham player got round him (just before goal about 2 mins in). That kind of leadership really helps in defence. Henderson is a real asset to the team and a great keeper.
Also great skill from THD in the first half when he beats two players and shoots. Top work.
Not sure how true a reflection of the game those highlights are but to me it looked like we rode our luck quite a bit ?
At the end, perhaps, but we were pretty comfortable IMO. Well organised, good individual performances all through the team. We seemed to have a lot more possession than in previous away matches, and should probably have got a second goal through Vaz Te. Lookman worries the opposition but understandably is still finding his feet. With more composure and experience he'll be a real threat.

I hope that this is the beginning of the upward run of the Yo-yo that we are on (Riga,Peeters,Luzon will testify) and at the end of the season we can make plans to stop it happening and play with a consistent run of form. Jackson is the leader that is essential to a good team morale and someone said they thought his goals are the best and they are right because how many times have his goals changed the outcome of a game. He is a legend at this club and will, regardless of what he says or does from here on in, always be so. You would need to get someone like him in the making now (Cousins?) because he wont be here forever. His philosophy of attacking the ball is proved right time and again. I think this manager sees his qualities and that is good for Charlton. What a win!
First off, thanks to RedMidland and Seth. Nice you get to commentate on a win every now and then. I do NOT want Karel as manager. But this is a great win away. The travelling addicks deserve tonight. Now, apart from celebrating the win, I' ll sit and worry about the contract Lookman has got. Happy tonight.
Birmingham had their chances but so what. Not a smash and grab, we looked tidy and composed on the ball once we had it. Most danger came from giving ball away allowing Birmingham to break at pace. Lookman scared the defence with his pace and tenacity. Less predictable than past performances, Holmes-Dennis was a force down the right linked up well with JBG. Some intelligent running off the ball and interplay in midfield. Can't put my finger on Cousins inconsistency during a game, Is he trying to do too much? Henderson pulled out of a few situations, fumbled a few but made some great stops. JBG looked up for it today, Bauer even made a run down the wing and crossed like a winger. Defence put under pressure by us failing to stop a lot of crosses but solid in the middle, formation makes us a bit exposed I guess. Mak not quite as influential, not much understanding up front as to where his flicks are going. Not sure Mak always knows. Overall a lot of character today and playing for one another. Didn't look a relegation team. Also staked on a win and a 1-0 score so happy days.
Just about warm enough to be able to type. No idea why it felt so cold.
We deserved to win, make no mistake. They had chances at the end, when we were defending the lead. But overall, think we deserved to win.
Dont think we look too clever defending set pieces.
Lookman had a very good game, and played a part in the goal. Assume he's just tired, not injured. If RVT is rusty and a long way from match fitness, cant wait to see him when he's match fit.
I know it's not cool, but MOTM for me was between Fox and Holmes-Dennis. I'd give it to THD on the basis of attacking play.

That's good to hear. Thankyou.
Having managed to watch the highlights on my phone, it's notable how many of the Birmingham shots were long range and off target - the main exception was the save Henderson made in front of us, but he didn't have a busy afternoon.
So buzzing with that great result. 3 points most important thing. Now hopefully start looking up the table. Results like this and Wednesday proves our league position really doesn't represent our league position.
Long cold afternoon watching Crawley beat Bristol Rovers ( don't ask ). Superb result. Karel has shown an ability to understand and adapt to this league. Give him the job. That said, he won't be supported by the board so he will be sacked within a year.
Poor quality, tight game. Brum's shooting was off in the 2nd half but generally we were comfortable.
Brum had a bit of joy out wide but then again so did we. Our back four did ok and were well shielded by Diarra.
Our goal was excellent. Think the very impressive Lookman was involved in setting THD away and his fantastic cross was powerfully headed down into the corner by Jackson.
This was a typical Charlton away win (and seemingly a typical Brum home performance).
Lookman definitely caught the eye but this was a solid team performance (lots of 6s and 7s) with a bit of luck thrown in. Jackson, the proven match-winner, did it again!
The best bit is that some people on here must be so upset by us winning
Wrong, but you're obviously excited at the thought that there might be.
He's wrong that it's the best bit, but some people on here want us to lose. It's clear as day they want us to lose so this interim manager isn't made permanent, despite some strong results.
Any chance Charlton supporters can enjoy the first away victory positively since a long time without backbiting ?

Well done lads and it has to be said well done our

Celebrate tonight everyone!
Come on. Don't be afraid to say it. Let me hear you say it.
:-)
When I saw 4/1 Charlton to win on Stan James I slapped on a tenner so am £40 better off as well...
Oh and the Club won.
Good times
And when did Birmingham start using Rangers' badge?
