  • You nor I will know. But if the replacement is as good or more reliable in the mins he will get on the pitch then it will turn out to be the right move

Problem is NLA, that's a bloody big if given our record on player recruitment. And it needs to be a player that's good or more reliable for more than half to three quarters of a season before getting shipped out on loan. I mean how many strikers have we actually got on our books now?
  • You'd have an in-form Reza over an in-form Tony Watt?!?!?!?!?

Yes I would... For reasons just said.

    Oh leave it out

Absolutely mental. Are these pratts trying to relegate us?

    In a word, yes
  • I will be disappointed to see him go. Is it attitude? I don't know, his form has certainly dropped since AUgust. But on his day he is a genuinely exciting player. He gets the ball and may produce a bit of magic, or may run into three defenders and lose it - the beauty is we don't know and I am not sure he does either. The way the ball sticks to his foot as he moves past defenders, the way he took the piss out of the Forest defenders, so many moments of genius. (And of course, the other side of the flair player - some "can't be bothered" play in games we are not at.

Is the flair Tony Watt gone for good then?

Problem is guys he is a disruptive influence around the training ground and has fell out with a number of people ..... not sure the club had much choice

Interesting. Who has he fallen out with and how please?

Certainly on Social Media he seems popular with the others at the club.

  • Don't bite guys.
  • Charlton striker Tony Watt is poised to join Cardiff City on loan.

The 21-year-old striker looks set to wrap up his move to the Welsh club tomorrow.

Watt started the season with a bang - notching in his first three games of the campaign - but has failed to find the next since.

And he recently exclusively spoke to the South London Press about his struggles for form - slamming some of his recent displays.

Watt had an instant impact when he joined from Standard Liege in the January transfer window, producing livewire displays that made him an instant hit with fans.

But the former Celtic youngster has been unable to scale those heights once his early season goal glut ended.

Cardiff boss Russell Slade spoke at the end of the week about his push to bring in a frontman.

Watt’s departure means that Charlton’s frontline options go back down - unless it frees up funds to make a signing before this week’s deadline for emergency loans.

Ricardo Vaz Te has already been brought in for the rest of the season while Ademola Lookman, 18, has also been promoted to the senior set-up.

Charlton did fail with a loan attempt to bring Yann Kermorgant back to The Valley recently - with AFC Bournemouth unwilling to let the French go due to a shortage of centre-forwards.
  • Unbelievable decision. Might not be in best form but the way our squad is currently we shouldn't be loaning out any first team players.
  • I like TW and agree with the positive comments on here about his attributes on the ball and the good games he has had for us. He was a big factor in our late season form last year.

However, TW's form for us since he returned from injury in August has been poor. 10 games, no goals and an average mark on Statbank of under 5. He needs to be much better than that.

  • Reza could never score that goal Tony scored against Huddersfield at home.

    Just doesn't have the ability

Like when he almost found the net against Wigan?
He's a nearly man. I've never known a player exempt from criticism on here like Reza.

Makienok plays well and scores and he still gets stick
  • Because name one other player who's been Linked atleast once a month since the summer that's all,

Why hasn't watt Been playing is more important, if he is fit enough to move to a club that needs goals, then why has he not been playing for us, there must be more to it, now that could be pure financial or it could be more to do with his potential mins on pitch for the reminder due to attitude or injury

I think it's a bad mistake I would rather clubs percivere with young enigmatic players as it displays proper mgmt and coaching ability, but like ravel Morrison even the best coaches walk away from them in the end,
  • Well Fox and Muldoon seem to like him a lot, likely if he has upset anyone it will be the idiots running the club. Doesn't seem the sort to hold his tongue when the club is being sold short.
  • What the actual f*ck? One of the most exciting talents we've seen down The Valley in years and we're going to loan him to a potential rival. True he has not been great the past couple of months but neither have the rest of the team. He needs to be at least given a chance in the current side which is better organised and increasing in confidence.

You know the main aim of football is to get the ball into the net don't you? There's no bonus points for almost scoring.

  • Thing is... How many games has Tony won us since joining... Maybe just the one against Queens Park Rangers?

Last season, Brentford, Forest and Huddersfield.

I was going to rant and rave(I still might) but is it because they want to play a different type of game with forwards who press defenders more like Reza and Lookman, as well as Vez Te playing alongside big Mak ?

Tony Magic feet (on a good day) could still be our match winner; even if it is 30 minutes coming off the bench. If Tony has had a fall out with another coach, then the club should give some coded message to the supporters because otherwise it just looks like yet another Cost cutting exercise.

Saying what has happened in Black and white would be best.

This must be down to Duchatelet row with Standards new owner that Tony Watt's transfer to Cafc was Iffy ?

  • Nicholas said:

So If Cousins, Solly, Bauer etc lose a bit of form (which they all have) when we were going through a bad patch we should get rid of them too.

    Exactly
  • Surely we have to be bringing in a striker before the loan window closes?
  • from Dr Kish & Ketts :

Watt arrived from Standard Liege in January and became an instant favourite with the fans. Behind the scenes though, there have been rumours of the Scot not seeing eye-to-eye with the management team.

Watt was relegated to the bench for the season's opener against Queens Park Rangers after a training ground incident.

The Watt situation may have prompted the enquiry for Yann Kermorgant.
