The 'statement' has once again reached our friends in the U.S.!

There is no where for Duchatelet to hide ( a bunker in Brussels?)
He is a laughing stock every where in the football world.
In Brazil they have shown Matt white's video on their main football Channel
And printed articles about our issues.
In Serbia, Hungary, Montegro, we heard that they were laughing when Duchatelet offered the job to the Serb not Riga. a guy who had won more in Hockey than football before Roland listened to Katrien/Karel and reversed the decision.
Most of the ultras groups (not palace LOL) from Poland to Australia are backing us.
Every one who said the Peaceful protests would get us nowhere should hang their heads in shame.

I said and others said at the first Protests that we didn't need to be violent.

We just needed to show the football world that Duchatelet's Model was a Failure.

The fantastic work by CARD and everyone who have protested in a non violent way and gave up hours and days in freezing and wet conditions
    To make their voices heard.

We must keep the world media on our side.

So... he had a deal for EUR1.5,000,000 lined up - the club realised it was really for us - and they popped another EUR1,000,000 on it?

If that's the case then I can't actually blame them to be fair, if Championship club was essentially trying to buy your player via a League One club you'd charge them Championship prices. Now the interesting thing here, is surely by that logic it would make sense to inflate your prices whenever one of Roland's clubs is making an offer - because for all you know he's going to be sent to the UK, and flipped for profit like a 3 bedroom house.

I don't agree with that logic. If I am selling a motorbike, it has a certain value. If course there might be two potential purchasers so the price might inflate if they get into an auction. If I negotiate with one person then the price is the price. If I find out that person was buying it for his rich boss, it makes no difference to the price.

It just so happens that I have a superb cafe racer for sale if their are two rich bikers on this forum?
Decent analogy and I get your point. But... what if your bike was specifically made for racing?

Now of the two race riders who want to by your bike, one has a bigger following than the other - and races in bigger events. If you sell the bike to him you know it's going to be a collectable, and it's price is going to rocket. He looks set to make a tidy profit on your bike if it works out for him.

If you sell it to the other chap though, although he'll still race it - he does race in less prestigious races where there's not really the same amount of money or fame involved - so the price may increase, but not as much.

I've just realised I've completely butchered your good analogy and probably made my point even less clear.. :( I don't know why I didn't just put it this way - if Standard Liege and Real Madrid came in for Harriott, I'd expect Real Madrid to pay more for him. (Enjoy it folks, that's the only time Charlton are going to be compared to Real Madrid for a while..)
I was lost and then finally understood

@Airman Brown just on BBC London and spoke very well about our situation. Apparently no-one from the club was available for comment!

Trust the bloody Sun to pick up that leeds have done it! Then again , perhaps leeds and Charlton could unite before and after the game in a few weeks?!

I think after the attacks in Brussels , any further coverage showing disruption to Belgians (RD & KM) would be a little in bad taste

Totally agree , but to make it the 'audience' could take it a different way - especially if miere uses her supposed lawyer skills and turns it back around on us!

Wide of the mark I believe. Nothing to do with being Belgian, just not a good enough story for the nationals. We know that this was a potentially significant moment in the history of our club, the media doesn't yet.

Perhaps for the next few weeks it should be you "stupid" wankers get out of our club" instead of you "Belgian" wankers get out of our club .Just so as to make it clear that we have no issue with belgians as such just THESE belgians

I don't think any of the media have suggested that we`re protesting against them cos of their nationality. If meire ever used it as a argument I think everyone will see right through it and it would make her look even more desperate and petty.
  • If we were protesting based on nationality then it wouldn't have taken two years for them to start. We didn't suddenly realise two years on that they were Belgian. They could be from any country in the world and welcomed into our club, if only they respected the purpose of the club, its fans and its history. Unfortunately, they they get none out of three.

Media coverage is fleeting by its nature; it has ultimately had no impact on RD's position.

You're right there, half our fans still think they are Belgiums

I think the origin of this line of discussion was that in view of the atrosities in begium less than a week ago we ought not to be disrespecting the belgian nation. We should focus on the fools that run our club.So lets focus on their stupidity rather than the fact that they are from belgium.

One of the issues I have is that Roland seems to favour appointing fellow Belgians when non-Belgians would appear to have better credentials.

I agree that 'you Belgian wankers' could appear racist if it were started today and after the suicide bombings in Belgium allied to the highlighting of the social issues they have there.

The chants do not relate to this.

If the Belgian clique appointees were part of the extremely competent part of Belgian football, it would not be sung. It is a reference to the totally rubbish group of senior employees and managers/ex-managers who happen to come from Belgium.

Why stop or change the chant because of terrorist activity in Belgium?

Wouldn't that be a success for the terrorists?

Turn this xenophobic hogwash back on them----- simple question " why have none of the managers appointed by yourselves been British?" ----- they can hardly say their appointments have been better qualified and by asking the question it might ---- might make them think of not taking the next guy from the Hungarian 3rd level who can't speak English

Ultimately? Was there some deadline for getting him out, after which we just accept our fate? I don't think so.

I think that more and more Charlton fans are becoming more energized by the protests than by the football. It is the protests, rather than the football, which reminds them of why they support Charlton. This is feeding more and more creativity and unity. The protest fund stands at 18k.

This is exactly how it was with the Valley Party. Which of us who were around then, remember the football of those months? And yet more and more of us felt more Charlton than we had done for years, as we propelled the campaign onwards.

RD does not understand football fans. He can laugh at the coffin if he wants to. But if I were him, I would not be laughing at how easily that coffin found its way into Belgian media.

    He bought the wrong club.

    Precisely

No BBC interest in CARD response to "joint club/met police statement" but leading on "met police warn charlton fans".Are the BBC turning against us?
