A truly remarkable tactician who bought the wonders of the Belgian third division to the hallowed turf of the Valley. Innovative team selection of four strikers in the starting line up against a poor Wolves side - and yet - managing to keep the score down to a 0 2 reverse.
I wish him well as he auditions for the remake of ‘Allo ‘Allo.
For a short time, many of us, possibly all of us bar colin, had a better tactical awareness of the game than a professional football manager. We should be grateful to Karel for that.
It takes a lot to impress me Carol but I can say without any fear of contradiction that you are definately Charlton's worse coach ever. That is a fact and a conclusion not taken lightly, considering the competition. Well done and good luck in whatever you try next.
Never in the field of human endeavour, Has a man, used so many different systems, And played so many players out of position, In such a short period of time.
Carol, your Crucifix and Mobile Jellyfish formations (brilliantly observed by @stig), will be missed. Switching to 2-3-5 & 3-1-6 late in games was genius.
Totally misunderstood by fans and players alike, whom he rightly "threw under a bus" at every opportunity during post match press briefings, to ensure it wasn't ever his fault. The master of the half time team-talk, who is unlucky that football is 45 mins each-way and not 44 mins, otherwise he could easily have attracted the Barcelona's & Real Madrid's of this world.
Looking forward to the publication of his coaching manual. A must for Pub team managers everywhere.
Can we honour him with a minutes applause in the 44th minute and have him picture on the big screen for his tireless work and contribution in his time here.
"Every manager is an interim manager" Wise words from a wise man. Cruelly taken from us at the cusp of greatness. Never have so many owed so much to so few. I'll miss you sweet prince.
I'd like to thank him as i've seen more goals at Charlton matches these past 14 games than I usually would, just a shame the majority were in our own net!
I will always fondly remember him for the retort when asked what he thought about the fans who traveled to watch them lose "it was not good". The man was Belgiums answer to the next Shakespeare.

His answer. "An interim manager Daddy"
Carol. A debt of gratitude. You are a beacon for interim managers the world over.
Good luck in your next temporary position.
