He's doing a decent job over there apparently.  I was talking about him to Mark Robson the other week and he said Konchesky, like himself, are proper West Ham men to living the dream.

Robson was called by Jonnie Jackson to join our coaching staff last year but had recently taken his role at West Ham.  Any other club and he'd had left to join us - but he was delighted to be working for his Hammers so decided to stay where he was

Paul Konchesky has left his role as West Ham (women's) manager after one season.
The Hammers reached the semi-finals of the League Cup and finished eighth in the Women's Super League, with only one league win in 2023.

Saw Konch before the play-off final. Always good that our former players enjoy coming back and keeping involved with the club.

"The shaven-headed Paul Konchesky," as Emma might commentate, approximately 3,000 times per match.

A VERY good player, he would have made 200 more appearances for us if Sir Chris Powell was nor at the club.
    I always liked Konchesky.

Mental that we loaned him out to Spurs to get first team action!

He wanted to play left back and we had Powell and Hreidarsson.  I always though he was better in midfield for us

It was always going to be difficult to get in the team in front of those two. They were no Matt Penney 😂

To think we had three international left full backs at the club simultaneously is mental!

Remember him grinning and laughing at us during to 6 goal drubbing by Leeds at The Valley.

Still his transfer to Leeds after Prem relegation helped us build the side that took us back the following season.

Danny Mills. Both didn’t have much hair at the time in your defence

I do remember  him goading us at West Ham after they had just scored against us at Upton Park, I think in our relegation season….

I also recall us singing “Britney, what’s the score?!” to him after we beat them 4-0 in the home game. (She was going through her skinhead phase around that time)

All of those moments were a long time ago however and he has always spoke highly of us since, so he’s fine by me and I hope he has a lovely day on Saturday watching the Addicks romp to victory. 👍🏻

A very similar player to Stuart Pearce.

Konchesky, along with Brown and Kishishev would be in my 25 man squad of players since I started going in '76.

My main memory of that game was the usually very reliable Richard Rufus having an absolute shocker.

  • He was better at Left Midfield. Was terrible defensively.

I remember him giving it to us when they scored. He hadnt even been getting any stick from the away fans! Was funny when he had to be substituted after being run ragged in the 4 nil win. But guess he had the last laugh! Long time ago and no hard feelings. Nice to see former players back at the club.

I thought Mills was very subdue and respectful when he played us. He didn't celebrate his goal in his first game against us at The Valley, and this was before that was the done thing. He had every right too with the stick we were giving him. In fact his attitude annoyed me even more!

Think I remember him kissing the spurs badge whilst he was on loan with them 😂. Hilarious.

Always liked him for us though and nice to see him still with an interest in the club. Carved out a bloody good career, caps for England, played for Liverpool and scored in an Fa Cup final.

5th April 2003, that match was an embarrassment, and Mark Viduka getting a hat trick didn't help...1-6 final score...🤦‍♂️

Tahar El Khalej came on as a sub, slipped, which led to another Leeds goal, and was never seen again!

That game seems a lifetime ago and yet one of the Leeds subs that day was James Milner, who is still playing PL football now. Incredible longevity.

First and only time I have ever left a ground early and the only time I ever got back to Stockport before 8pm after a 3pm Saturday fixture!

There was a horrendous game against Birmingham that he started in and was appalling - fairly sure that was after Leeds .
