Does anyone know the qualification rules for the semis? Is it purely based on run rate or results between teams? It would be disappointing if South Africa qualify ahead of us on run rate having beaten them if we draw on points.

Overall net run rate in the group. It would be unlucky to go out with three wins but the Windies could argue the same thing if they went out having beaten us.
We have to ensure that we have two convincing wins against SL & Afghanistan.
Judging by the SL performance yesterday, it should be a bit easier with SL being without Sanga,Jaya and Malinga- their fielding especially was appalling.
Gutted that I had Gayle as my captain & he didn't bat
why was he not allowed to bat?
i saw on SSN yesterday that he was all ready with the crowd calling out for him but he wasn't allowed on?
He injured a hammy whilst fielding and went off - in doing so, he was off the field for so long that he timed himself out of opening the batting (you are meant to be on the field for at least as long as you were off for you to be able to bat) - therefore he was going to come in at 6 - when WI were 3 down they had a caught behind overturned by review when it was originally given out - he was about to come on but was sent back when the decision was overturned.
Hope Bangla get a reasonable (140+) score here to make a match of this
Doubt that they will get this or whether that score would be anywhere near enough. Tamim has scored (257) almost as many as the rest of the squad put together (283) and is a massive loss. Pulled out sick at the last minute.

Yeah it wouldn't be enough, but won't be any fun to watch Aus chase down 100 or something measly. They'd eat it up within 10 to get the NRR flying.
Huge miss as you say, they build from his starting runs, usually.
157 req. Valiant effort from Bangladesh after the first few overs. Khawaja and Watson could eat into it heavily in the PP i'd imagine
Warne and North bemoaning the fact that Finch hasn't been selected again. I would have Khawaja all day long ahead of him but he has to get another score today.

It wouldn't be Khawaja I'd be looking at dropping, no way. As good as Finch is Khawaja has been good for Aus thus far.
Warner outside of the PP is strange, I'd swap him with Watson I think.
Khawaja/Finch ....hmmmm, no contest... Finch any day. Khawaja couldn't even get in the Derby team last season.
Finch hit the most destructive 20 over innings I've ever seen when he scored 150+ against us in 2013. If Australia can drop him it really says something about their batting depth.
The criticism has quite rightly been made about Khawaja's running but the commentators don't appear to have picked up on the fact that, when Watson was dropped, he started to run, got half way and then ran back again. Meaning that, had the Bangladeshi fielder hit the stumps at the keeper's end, one of them would have been run out.

So would I but the Aussies seem to have got themselves "hung up" about having a left/right combination.
That must really hurt Finch. Number one ranked player, captain of the T20 side leading up to the WC and having had that taken from him, now has to run on the pitch to give a drink to the bloke who has taken his place!
And as the commentators intimated Smith is vulnerable at 3 - especially when chasing a big score.
The other question is - do the Aussies really need to go in with seven bowlers? Surely Coulter-Nile, Faulkner, Marsh (or Hastings), Watson, Zampa and Maxwell is enough?
Their top six could then be Finch, Khawaja, Warner, Smith, Maxwell & Watson with Marsh, Faulkner & Nevill to come.
NZ looking a serious team - will likely top their group after beating both India and Oz in their group. Wouldnt mind betting that we play them in semis

This bloke Milne who plays for NZ just bowled one at 152kph ! Thats seriously quick.
One thing they say in all major tournos is the team that wins it normally doesnt start very well - gives us some hope then !
