I've looked up the name of the chap who emailed Target20K with an apology, according to LinkedIn he's a "Consumer, Corporate & Crisis Communications Consultant"...
Typical, the only Premier League thing about the club at the moment is the bleeding "Crisis Communications Consultant"!17 -

After this T20k should dispand immediately. Any individual with an ounce of sanity knows 20k is completely unrealistic with the current regime. Even when we give the entire London school population free tickets we struggle for 12k.
Through know fault of the individuals involved, T20k will always be a PR initiative used as a shield for not engaging with supporters.
Dispand with your integrity intact or continue knowing you're allowing the club to undermine the great work CARD and others have been doing.7 -

I feel sorry for the T20k group. I do genuinely believe they are of the belief that they can best make an influence by being on the inside and trying to influence things for the better. It's better to influence in any small way possible than have no chance of improving things at all. BUT, when the organisation starts to use any group as part of propaganda, especially when it's factually incorrect, then it makes things difficult and the situation should be continuously re-assessed.
I'm not gonna say they should pull out, that's a decision only they can personally make because as I said I do believe the persons involved are genuine in their reasons and efforts and are not pro the regime.9 -

If somebody is going to make the journey, they might as well pop 500 in. I'm going to form target Charlton fans flying - My goal wil be to try to teach a thousand Charlton fans to fly by flapping their hands - after I have taught myself of course. let's see who is the first to achieve their target! It might be a draw. I would try to teach 20 thousand, but that would be ridiculous! Where are we going to find them?9

I'm afraid I will lose all respect for the group if they continue their loyalty to the regime. It only takes one terrible email to clarify that the club's only use for them is to use them as a shield: "look we are talking to supporters customers, what a great initiative t20k is".6

Correct me if I've missed something, but are Target20k "loyal to the regime," or just loyal to what they signed up for? It may sound pedantic, but it's very important. I am someone who must feel like they're at least *trying* to solve something. I can certainly understand why some of the members would stick with it. If nothing else, and even putting this nonsense aside, they seem to be the only group who have any sort of interface with the club at this point. That said, bad PR day. I will put the police statement to one side. I am jaded by 30 years of American policing, but also understand the statement is meant to deter people from illegal activity. It's always going to be strongly worded.
THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT F*CKING HARD! This is just basic customer (pardon the term) and PR relations. I know that Roland put them in a bad spot with all of this. But in the internet age, if you make a claim to fans, expect them to ask other fans...on twitter...who can then catch you in your lie. On Twitter. In Writing. I mean it's...galling...gah.0 -

The Target20K group is a really difficult subject in my mind, these are fans who are acting out of the very same motivations and passions that the protesters are: passion and genuine love for their club. At any other time these people would be applauded, and quite rightly so. Alas, it's a testament to how messy things have become that it's now incredibly difficult to get behind them.SDAddick said:

I personally don't support their actions at this time, but I would genuinely be thrilled to see them achieve their aim of attendances reaching 20,000 - in a happy and unified valley. That day will come I'm sure, but it wont be under this regime.
My main difficulty with the group is that I genuinely feel very uneasy about the way they were used today; I do not understand how a member of staff accidentally referred to them. In my mind the club threw them under the bus - and as fans, they do not deserve that. It's tantamount to playing fans off against each other, which just happens to remind me of the wording of "The Statement" again.
I don't think the real surprise from this is that the regime thought it was acceptable to lie to the fans, on the contrary - the real surprise is that they appeared to implicate T20K in their lies. To be prepared to do that to the only organised fans group that supports you says a lot about how much you value the fans in general.
Oh, and after my recent binge of "Making a Murderer" I don't envy your US policing..!

Great picture of a full Valley as their picture though. Unfortunately, one that is never going to achieved by full price ticket buying supporters under Duchatelet, Meire and Cahones.

They used a supply communications manager from the premier league whilst awaiting the arrival of Mel Baroni, I believe they have patched over other areas of staffing as well, but not 100% sure of that.
So.
Now.
Katrien and Tony have got together to try to think their way through things, and Googled around a bit, and then one of them says;
'That's it! Get on to a crisis consultant to sort it all out. I mean we could do it, but we're too busy shopping online for sofas and laundry baskets. What do you do with a leaking pipe? Get a plumber, what do you do about uniquefanscustomers? Get a crisis consultant'!
Hang on Seth. Seriously? They're employing a crisis consultant?
Is this good news because they finally realise we're in crisis? Or is it because they hope to pay somebody to magic troubles away?
They are so fecking mad that they give ordinary decent madness a bad name.
