The Poyet family used to live near me in Chelsfield.
This was when Gus was still playing  .
They had a large house in World's end Lane and I used to see them quite often.
One thing I always found strange was they used to have a security guard standing outside their house most of the time
I could understand it if they were politicians or members of the Royal family,  but I found it odd for a footballer
Read a headline this morning that there were multiple assassination attempts on Messi & Ronaldo at the WC that the US are saying they stopped, which makes it all make a bit more sense to me, some right nutters out there

Multiple assassination attempts? But the mighty US of A prevented them happening? This claim, it didn't come from a fat orange bloke with tiny hands by any chance?

Pretty harrowing if you ask me
"Alledged" and "reportedly" doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that report.

Not saying that there may not have been a few attention seeking nutters talking drivel, but that's a far cry from a 24/7 security guard on the gate of a big house in the Kent countryside.
There were several high profile nasty robberies around Kent around that time.
One of our players house was targeted.
My husband was responsible for catching the thieving c***s
It does not surprise me that there was a security guard outside his house.

Were they after Danny Murphy's watch?

    No.
    His cat.

"One alleged threat involved a plan to enter a stadium with homemade bombs and an AR-15 rifle"

That's not just a threat against Messi then.

Also he plays his club football there, if someone was that crazy there are surely less high profile games with far less security that you could attempt that at than a world cup match.

    In that case, fair enough.
