Angry Sam Allardyce insists Ademola Lookman would have made no difference to a “pathetic” Everton performance against Arsenal.

“I've got Yannick Bolasie who cost thirty million quid and Theo Walcott who cost twenty million quid and both have a lot more experience than Lookman, so no."

Sam knowing the price of his players but not their value.

I want to "Like" and "LOL" this at the same time.

Sam will keep them up, get a huge bonus, and be on his way. Just a mercenary. Made a great living and an alright career out of it but in however many years of management he's won nothing of note. Overachieved in some places and underachieved at others, but at the end of the day, as a manager, you should be judged at least in part on your trophy cabinet (To be fair he won the third division 20 years ago and the second tier in Ireland so that's...something).

  • Fat Sam is good at keeping crap teams up, and that's it. Wish we'd had him and not Pardew. If we stayed up that season it was sky TV Bonanza money time. Who knows.
  • I'm going to stick my neck out and say that Sam Allardyce is one of the all-time great Premier League managers and deserves more respect.

How Stupid do you feel, putting this comment on the wrong thread

I have attached the correct thread below for future reference

  • Look man it's not hard to spell Lookman

  • "It was a perfect day to go back with three points. I am very pleased that I was able to score a goal in my first game, but that we won the duel is even more important to me."
Wait Adenoma used the term "duel"?

  • dont really get all the Allardyce bashing tbh. He was bought in by Everton who I think were secon bottom only to a pointless Palace at the time and were falling fast losing by big margins to shit teams. Is he likely to be their long term manager, no. But he will keep them up which ultimately is what he was bought in to do and will earn them another £120m next year, just like he did at Palace beforehand.

It is unfair to call him a mercenary just because he has created this ‘niche’ and clubs employ him to do it and then sack him when they want to push on.

As for Ade, congrats to the lad, good goal and I hope he pushes on from there. Should fill him with confidence. Would be great to see him establish himself.

Final thing, Bolasie, £30M = the most over paid for a footballer ever? He is lower PL level at best.

Allardyce asked if he could've done with Lookman today: "No.... if you could've put him out there today he couldn't have made us any better because the whole team was crap."

We now see why Sam let Ade go - he is protecting him and doesn't want him to suffer by being part of a "crap" team!

On the other hand, if you played Ade your team might not be quite so "crap". And we aren't fooled by you wanting to send the lad to Derby. Scoring in the Championship isn't quite the same as doing so in the Bundesliga and Ade doing so would not have caused the same outburst that tonight's goal has from the Everton fans.

See, his German is brilliant already - and Sam was worried about the culture shock!

Really happy for him, it's odd the amount of pride I get from players who started their professional career at Charlton going on to do well. I even felt a little bit profundity when Gudmunsson scored for Burnley yesterday which is doubly mental!
You see, it is nice to have seen the future stars of the premier league (and bundesliga) at the valley first!

    ;)

"Allardyce arrives at Everton with the club lying 13th, with 15 points from 14 matches, having just beaten West Ham 4-0."

They're now 10th with 31 points from 26. So he hasn't vastly improved them and has stopped playing their promising youngsters.

Well done Ade. I know he joined us late but very proud as a Charlton fan.

I've only just seen it, been putzing around the house doing housework all day.

Absolutely beaming for him. What a finish. Reminds me of his goal against Rotherham in the Championship.
Yeah mate, I'm sure that was his first thought when he scored as well.
  • That was a great goal, first bit of sport this weekend that’s had me really pleased.

Oh the last minute drop goal for the Irish was good for them but I was hoping the frogs were going to hold on.

What impressed me the most about the goal was the dummy he sold the defenders, total quality and opened up a very difficult angle that he took without looking and the goalie had no idea.
  • Still looks like a baby. Bless! Go get 'em Ade.

This is entirely wrong and has been proven so.

This whole thing went off on Twitter when he moved to Everton. Many were saying it should be Lukman as that is the common spelling of that last name in Nigeria. However their family is from a different region where Lookman is also fairly well used.

Who are you to tell him how his family name should be spelt?

As I said it was all played out on Twitter. It was put forward by someone else with a Lookman last name that he was from the same region as his family and it isn't that uncommon to be spelt that way.

Can't be arsed to go back and find it.

If take it from the way they spell it that that's how it's supposed to be spelt.

Many generations ago my last name was spelt with an e on the end. That doesn't in any way mean the current spelling without an e isn't correct.
  • Immigrants Anglisising the spelling of their surname is nothing new.

    Therefore, it's spelt L O O K M A N
No matter how many people in Nigeria think it should be Lukman.

    So spell his name correctly
Like I said I'm not that fussed by the name more the stroppy reaponse but thanks
